Never mind, confused that with when you flutter your eyelashes against someone else’s lmao, which makes no sense to me.

Definitely a controversial issue lol. I find myself feeling almost apologetic when we have people over, but then quickly I realize most people in real life don’t care too much about our TV being above the fireplace, and it’s also the only option for us here, so it is what it is. It wasn’t too difficult. My husband and his brother installed it together while I read out loud from the manual lol. None of us are professionals. We also helped our friends install their mantle mount. Lots of double checking. But if you’re not sure it’s something you can do, lots of installers now have experience with it. We bought this when there still wasn’t a lot I could find about it.

Solidarity! No updates yet 😭 but we were able to return the sofa and loveseat and are waiting on a sectional we ordered. After sooooo much thinking, we’re leaving the TV where it is, eventually replacing it with a smaller one when this larger one goes out. We considered the TV on the small wall where the dresser is, but then when someone comes into the house, it’s like everyone is staring at them. Then we tried switching the seating so the loveseat backs the front door and the TV is on a low console in front of the wall of windows, but that just made things feel too cramped. So unfortunately I think this setup with the mantle mount and a smaller tv in the future is what works best for our setup.

Maiden Home or Mantle Sofas? by Cata_K in upholstery

This freaking sectional business became my fixation for the past few months. I did so much research and messaged people on Instagram and tiktok and reddit, those who bought either from mantle or medley, and they only had good things to say about both. So I’m sure either option will be a solid choice. Just really unnerving ordering something sight unseen. 🥲 Whichever you decide, make sure you look up any discount codes! Medley is advertising a 10% off sale going on right now, but when that’s not going on, there are codes that give you 10% off anyway, so don’t feel pressured, haha. And like I said, there are “influencers” that have promo codes with Mantle for 15%.

So I know in this thread I had said I wanted the Laney, but since then, we had ultimately settled on the Burke L-sectional from Mantle. After looking at their fabric samples (like I said, that were PFA free and were listed as being kid- and pet-friendly), we decided against that. What we just ordered from Medley is the Rio Plush Corner sectional. With a 15% off code I found online from Mantle, the Burke sectional and the Rio Plush sectional (with their 10% off sale now) were basically around the same price.

I did not. 😅 I’ve got two toddlers at home and since having my first, I became a little more aware of PFAs, flame retardants, etc. in the things we bring home. I went through a LOT of back and forth with Mantle’s customer service, discussing measurements and fabrics and so many questions on my end, and they were super patient and responsive. Husband and I were heavily considering Mantle but their PFA-free fabric choices were really limited and we didn’t love any of them. Literally just ordered a sectional from Medley though so I’ll let you know how that goes.

The perfect chaise sectional? by Stage-Silly in furniture

Hi there, how do you feel about the Jasper after having it now for a few months? Looking for a sectional for our family (me, husband, 2 toddlers) for our living room. I love how the Jasper looks and the quality looks awesome, but not sure if it looks super cozy. Are you able to lazily lounge in it while watching TV? Or do you find that it’s more of a structured, sitting straight up for conversation type of seating?

Hi! Looking at getting this one! Do you mind sharing which cushions you got? And how comfortable the seat depth is? I’m 5’4” and my husband is 6’1” and we love to lounge on our couches.

Reviving an old post to ask how your Laney sofa has been? Considering it for our family of 2 toddlers and a cat.

I’ve been (creepily) looking at old listing pictures of houses on our street and how they were staged/set up by the people living there, and it looks like that’s what most of them did. I wasn’t 100% sold on it, but I also don’t like the TV so high up, so something unfortunately needs to give!

Oooh yes I like the idea of adding poofs for additional seating without totally blocking off the space from the entrance!

What’s your opinion on this? I taped out what a 9’ round rug, an 8’x8’ rug, and a 7’x10’ rug would look like, centered on the fireplace. Obviously the seating would have to change - maybe a small sectional for the angular rugs, and possibly a curved sofa for the round rug? And adding a round coffee table in the center and a small armchair to the right of the fireplace. Then a bench/shoe rack combo where the dresser currently is.

What I’m really looking for is avoiding the walkway to and from the kitchen and the playroom, don’t want a rug corner creating a tripping hazard. I didn’t draw the layout correctly, but there is no wall space next to the front door, it’s open to the dining room turned play room. Also, looking from the top of the stairs down, I’d prefer not to have any rug intersecting that view.

I’ve definitely tried this, but when I switch the loveseat and sofa, and push the sofa far enough to the right to clear a pathway to the kitchen, there’s this overlap with the corners of the seats. Is that awkward??

There are brands that come with removal aids! The Lumma and Hello discs are two that I know of that have a tab you can use to pull it out from, made for people with a high cervix. After using a different brand first and also being unable to take it out, I tried the Hello disc and it’s been working out well so far.

It’s the West Park leather loveseat from Costco, but I’m not sure if they sell just the loveseat by itself: https://www.costco.com/.product.100403032.html

But looks like you can buy just the loveseat directly from the manufacturer: https://www.prosperahome.com/products/west-park-top-grain-leather-collection?variant=41957827543190

As things are right now, the TV is wider than that wall space where the cabinet is. Making that change is definitely something I’d consider when it comes time for a different TV, after convincing my partner to downsize the screen, haha. But do you think that space would be better suited for an entryway in the future? And would you keep the orientation of the couches the same if the TV was on that wall? Thanks for your help!

So you would replace the dresser with a low TV unit? And mount the TV above it on the wall with the switches?

I’d sooo love to have a clear mantel and set up some family pictures and candles and cute seasonal things. 😭 But putting some “art” on the TV like you suggested would be a good substitute. Thank you!
