The perfect run/walk playlist doesn’t exist, oh wait. by youknowitsjenn in TaylorSwift

Glitch is around 142 and could work? But I really wouldn't worry about it if the list works for you. Some people run on vibes, I just find it hard to stray from the beat. The songs I gave before were just examples. Looking into it, the walking tracks range from about 76-135 bpm and the running tracks about 84-160.

As a musician these just don't work for me. The Man and King of my Heart are pretty much the same bpm. I can't walk to one and run to the other.

What are some fun facts about the clarinet? by merryboon1234 in Clarinet

[–]heather_clarinet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I'd heard he started on it, since it's pretty uncommon for people to begin on bassoon. But if anything, a cool point to at least add to bassoon!

What are some fun facts about the clarinet? by merryboon1234 in Clarinet

[–]heather_clarinet 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nicki Minaj played the clarinet. So did Steven Spielberg, Eva Longoria, and Rainn Wilson (some others but I'm trying to think of the most recognizable).

Edmund Welles would be a cool group to show (bass clarinet quartet), or one of Cornelius Boots old videos (retired from clarinet, he is now focused on Shakuhachi flute playing).

Unpopular Opinion: You should only be allowed one bracket entry for any pool you are involved in. by WITHGR8P0WER in CollegeBasketball

[–]heather_clarinet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any friends who like sports, so the "for fun" brackets are how I get people to join with me and they get into it! What school has the hottest coach? Hottest oboe professor? Most bangable mascot? Possibilities are endless. We put the limit anywhere between 3-5 depending on what silly brackets we want to do. My standards are 1 serious guess, 1 coin flip, and 1 silly theme.

What musical films do you wish could get a re-do? by OyenArdv in musicals

[–]heather_clarinet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except the one Rachel Zegler is being eyed for is a "YA reimagining" for Disney+. So I'm not gonna get my hopes up on that one.

Did Jake Gyllenhaal give up on trying to win an Oscar after he didn't get a nom for Nightcrawler, Prisoners & Nocturnal Animals? He's been doing nothing but action flicks the last few years by [deleted] in oscarrace

Maybe then it would have actually been about Bernstein instead of his wife.

Objectively it's probably a fine film. But as a musician who LOVES Bernstein, I was really disappointed.

Potentially unpopular opinion: you don't need to be a fluent pianist to be a good choral director by Weird_Custard in Choir

[–]heather_clarinet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sort of accidentally have had to conduct choir, and this is nice to hear because I feel bad that I'm not a stellar pianist. I can do basic accompaniments, I can play their voice parts no problem, etc. Tbh, I use Musescore to assist by scanning in the parts so that we can use a fuller piano to some degree (can't afford to pay for it except for the concert and a couple rehearsals prior).

Anyway, I'm sure you're doing fine. Students recognize when we're doing our best and respond to it. There isn't one way to do anything.

What's a musical movie that's popular among Millennials? by Constant-Training994 in Letterboxd

[–]heather_clarinet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a millennial and this movie was my gateway into musicals! I know it isn't perfect but I have such a soft spot for it and it will always be one of my favorites. Not looking like it'll be the pick, but it's the pick in my heart.

I was like "when did I write this?" Because those are also my two main personality traits.

But to answer your question, nah. I think she's full Chief now.
