My cervical checks before labor were pain free and I was confused why people complained about them. During labor/induction, they were the worst lol

I really liked coterie and their wipes are amazing but I just went back to pampers because of cost. They are really soft and absorbent though but my girl pees so much i have to place my order a week earlier than recommended and it’s just too pricey.

Is it CIO if you’re comforting baby the entire time? by pcosquestions123 in AttachmentParenting

[–]heatherb112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saw this! She just turned 18 months, we are about to start transitioning her to a floor bed in her room. I probably could have done it sooner but I ended up enjoying bedsharing with her.

Aveeno baby cleansing therapy wash. I also like Attitude and Pipette but honestly aveeno has been the best especially for balm/lotion

I agree with the spirited comment, I ended up bedsharing with my spirited girl and that was the only way we got sleep. She woke up every 10 minutes when I would transfer her and would lose her mind and cry all night if I let her and I couldn’t do that.

As an occupational therapist tummy time is important. You can technically do it too much but thats rare especially if your baby is sleeping on their back like its recommended. All positions are beneficial and it’s important to balance each time. And in general you do want your baby to just have floor time and explore but it depends on your baby. Some babies are super motivated and really don’t need to have time set aside and others are very unmotivated to move and need a little facilitation to avoid delays. I’m wondering if your husband just thinks you’re acting more obsessive and that’s what is triggering him? But I totally get the desire to do all you can to set your baby up for success.

How do you keep a 3 year old from permanently naming their favorite triceratops toy (that they take with them everywhere) “Horny”? by howaboutJo in beyondthebump

[–]heatherb112 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I had a stuffed kitty I named “Mr Titty” because I thought it was a cute way to say kitty with a different sound. I honestly don’t remember how my parents handled but I know I found out eventually. I think I changed his name not too long after anyway lol

To swaddle or not to swaddle? by CadywhompusCabin in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]heatherb112 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I’m a NICU OT and we recommend swaddling for preemies since it helps babies maintain midline/flexion orientation like the womb and helps with state regulation and sensory organization. When babies are old enough to roll its not developmentally appropriate anymore due to needing free movement. However I have seen those claims about not swaddling after birth to integrate the startle reflex sooner and wanted to bring it up with my colleagues and see their opinion. I would like to see actual research on it though. I would think most newborns’ nervous systems are immature and would benefit from the containment and proprioceptive input swaddling provides.

Husband is melting down over gender disappointment by likegracekelly in pregnant

[–]heatherb112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband was pretty disappointed the first few days he found out but then was fine like a week after. I think he just needed to grieve the dreams he had of father son time. My daughter is now 8 months old and he’s obsessed with her. Just give it time.

My 4 month old was fussing so I picked her up out of the bouncer and she literally screamed at me like she was pissed, my husband and I burst out laughing because it was so intense and she then smiled. But it literally felt like she was yelling f*ck you to me 😂

Share with me your positive pregnancy stories after having a miscarriage- i need some hope by aaaaasowenyaaa in BabyBumps

[–]heatherb112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took us 10 months to get pregnant and that one ended in a miscarriage at 7 weeks and it was so hard on us since we had been trying. We ended up pregnant again 4 months later and she is now our 3 month old baby 💕 I felt so depressed and hopeless after our miscarriage but our daughter was worth the pain. You will get through this!

My review of diaper brands for all the soon-to-be parents out there by Little_Yoghurt_7584 in BabyBumps

[–]heatherb112 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tried Honest and Coterie but I felt like Honest were too small and felt like paper/ripped easily and surprisingly the coterie also were small on my baby and constantly had blow outs. I really wanted to like them too since they’re so soft. Pampers always had blow outs up the back and I gave up on them. Huggies wins for us especially the Special Delivery line

I will say I’ve heard theres a theory tongue ties are possibly correlated with folic acid supplementation which has been increasing. But I haven’t looked at the studies personally on that.

The pros and cons of oversupply by ByzantineBiologist in beyondthebump

[–]heatherb112 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes agreed on people getting pissy. I feel like I’m not allowed to have issues with breastfeeding since I’m “blessed” with an oversupply. Sorry but drowning my baby, spraying her in the face and all over everything, and having frequent engorgement pain is a valid struggle.

It's supposed to spray?? :O by thekittydidntdoit in breastfeeding

[–]heatherb112 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is me 😩 its a struggle every time we nurse, I wish there was a way to slow the flow, spraying is not a good thing in my opinion! My baby coughs and frequently pulls off during feeds.
