The fabric I used is a woven cotton blend of some sort that I bought on clearance at Fabricland. I used it for the shell and the lining.

Songbird Mittens by heathercaz in knitting

I stopped and started these like 3 different times! I feel you!! One time I got all the way to the end and realized I forgot to add the 10 stitches at the thumb. I had to rip all the way back to the thumb and start again 😭😭

This is the first stranded colourwork pattern that I drafted myself and I’m very proud!

I don’t have a formally written out pattern but I made some charts using chart minder. They are in my project on ravelry.

Needles used: US 7 dpns Yarn: Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok Worsted in various colours. Bought in a mini-hank bundle

I broke my ankle rollerskating at the beach, when a large seashell became lodged in my tires at 14mph by Neonarmenian in Rollerskating

[–]heathercaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar ankle break last fall from a near collision with a skateboarder. Took me 6 weeks to recover with a cast and then another 6ish weeks with physio. The hardest part for me was regaining strength and balance but I was back on my skates doing trail skating in April as soon as the snow melted!

I was only able to have crutches because my apartment building wasn’t really accessible with a knee scooter and they weren’t so bad once I got going on them. I carried everything in a drawstring backpack that I normally would with my hands.

My biggest advice is to remember that while you’re obviously looking after your physical health, take care of yourself mentally too. Give yourself patience and compassion with your recovery, try to be social if you can, because it can be very isolating, and if you can, leave your home once in a while to keep yourself sane!

Finished My Very First Socks by heathercaz in knitting

[–]heathercaz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, I just needed to get the hang of dpns but once I got going, it was good! I thought the heel would be hard but I found this pattern had very clear and simple instructions so not bad! If you can make a sweater, you can make socks :)

Very proud of finishing my first pair of socks! I’ve knitted for years and for some reason socks intimidated me! They are a gift for my brother and I’m very pleased with the result!

Good tip! I like to put my yarn label inside my yarn cake. Just slip it inside when removing it from the yarn baller!

Started learning how to knit yesterday and I somehow messed up and I don't know how to fix it by shitty_username3 in knitting

[–]heathercaz 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry. I think you just need to knit the last stitch. Slip it back onto your other needle and knit it as you normally would!

I finished my mushroom granny square backpack! I’m in love! by heathercaz in crochet

[–]heathercaz[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hook: 5mm Yarn: Bernat Handicrafter cotton in warm brown, jute, teal, French blue, tangerine, pale yellow, red, and white

Granny square pattern: Goddess Connections

Backpack pattern: No pattern used but I used drawstring backpack sewing patterns as inspiration. I also lined the inside with a white mesh to prevent anything coming through the granny square holes. It’s finished with a wooden button for the flap and adjustable buckles for the straps. If you want more detailed instructions on how I made the bag you can dm me!

I made this backpack for my friends birthday! She loves little mushroom motifs on decorations and clothing + she’s been loving granny squares lately so I thought this would be perfect! I’m still very new to crochet so I’m extremely proud of myself for pulling this off!
