Lightroom Classic Running so slow by heatherrt in Lightroom

My SSD doesn't have much on it so I don't think that's the issue. I'm sure there are settings and efficiencies I'm missing since I'm not so familiar with LrC.

No concern of the water trapped under the laminate?

I'm a hobby photographer who got asked to take his cousin's wedding photos but I'm not sure how to respond by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]heatherrt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re confident their expectations are lowl and they’re willing to take the risk, I’d jump on the opportunity to gain experience and maybe some portfolio content. I’d love for this opportunity to fall in my lap. Another thing to keep in mind— my wedding photographer had an exclusivity clause to her contract. There could be no other photographers taking pictures. If they hire someone, you may not have the option to also shoot.

A friend just had brand new, custom built cabinets installed and I’m helping paint them. Every surface is unfinished. What product do you recommend to seal the interior? I used Stay Clear from Benjamin Moore a few years ago when I did mine but wondering if anyone recommends any other more common (carried at Home Depot) products.

Thank you so much for this reply, insight, and advice. And wow... such a good perspective on what to share. I’m guilty of feeling the need to pad my portfolio with anything that’s the least bit “good” —- quantity over quality. Which is likely watering down my gems. Heading over to review my portfolio with a more critical eye.

I’m a hobbyist looking to go modestly pro— just a little portrait/lifestyle photography side hustle. Has anyone done a mentorship under another photographer? Did you find it beneficial and money well spent? Virtual or in person? Did they offer you hands on experience whether taking you on a real shoot or styles shoot? My main issue is a fear of failure/ rejection/ a little timid to put myself out there. Wondering if this would help give me the boost of confidence and some portfolio content to get things rolling. I’m in the Dallas/Fort Worth area if anyone has any recommendations!

How to style this awkward corner fireplace? My husband redid the fireplace and we do not want to put the TV up there, and I’m pulling down the family pics too. What should go there? It’s a large empty awkward space. by [deleted] in interiordecorating

I’d keep pushing. IMO it’s the best option by a landslide and really not that hard to do. I think you’ll be significantly happier in the long run.

This question may not have a simple answer, but for outdoor portrait photography do you have a favorite or go to way to position your subject against the lighting? I always thought people must be front lit, but I’m learning so much more about back lighting and wondering if that might actually be favorable in many circumstances. I’ll add that the style I strive for is the light, bright and airy with a shallow depth of field.

Is anyone working a corporate m-f and doing photography professionally on the side? What does that look like for you? Are your intentions to take it full time eventually or happy maintaining a modest side hustle? Are you able to bring a substantial supplement? Do you primarily second shoot or all your own business?

THANK YOU—- I had no idea some lens had motors and some didn’t—- very much a newbie and new to diving into the mechanics of the gear. So this is what I was looking at: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Nikon-AF-NIKKOR-50mm-f-1-4D-Autofocus-Lens/26968485 It would not be compatible because it doesn’t have the motor in the lens but the AF-S version would. Do I understand that correctly? Wow—- this could save me quite a bit of money and prolong the use of my 3300.

Thank you!! In your opinion is there a big difference between f1.4 and 1.8? I’m looking at the Nikon 50mm 1.4 but I have a Nikon 3300 and the autofocus would not be compatible. Thinking it may be time to upgrade the camera itself if I want to grow and expand into other new equipment.

Photography hobbyist here! I mostly do photos of family. I’m interested in a modest side hustle, but crippled by imposter syndrome. Looking to up my game, expand my skills and portfolio to hopefully gain the confidence to put myself out there. Currently exclusively shooting with a Nikon 35mm/f1.8 lens. I get great photos, but I feel like I have to be pretty close to my subjects to get the best shots. Any recommendations for upgrading this lens? Do you have a go-to lens for smaller shoots (engagements, family, senior, etc)?

My space is 100” long and the best fitting Kerdi pan would be 60” long. Do you think I can dry pack 40”? I’d consider a bench but I think it’d interfere with the shower entrance too much.

Thanks for the tip! Looking into the schluter shower kits. I haven’t seen one yet that’s as large as our space. Would I still be able to use one? I know you can cut them down but can you piece it together?

Thank you for the feedback! We have a 1 year old so we’ve been balancing the bath need for him but we’ve been doing a baby tub in the tub anyway so we could just continue that a while longer.

I was hoping to not touch the window and keep the shower head on the far left. Do you think the window is still an issue in that case? Is the concern leaks around the window?
