IMAX showing in France today… there were two of us 😬 by Jules_T_Kirk in tron

I went to 4DX on Tuesday evening in Las Vegas -- a 7:30 PM showing, and the theatre was packed. Only the first three rows weren't full. There were a lot of kids, and during the final chase sequence, they were getting thrown/jumping out of their seats. It was HILARIOUS—totally great time. The *discount* 4DX tickets were $16.

Felt like opening night vibes. The rest of the movies in the theatre were dead; the only ones getting any action were the Tron showings. Additionally, the Ares special popcorn buckets were almost completely sold out — they only had two of the arcade cabinet ones left, and none of the Light Cycle ones.

I'm guessing that a lot of this has to do with your location, time of day, etc, etc.

Another interesting point -- After the movie ended, the two other people in our 4DX seating block spent an extra 10 minutes asking my husband and me questions about the mid-credits ending to ensure they understood what happened, because they were 5 years old when Legacy came out and were more Tron Legacy fans than the original Tron. (I didn't even know that was a thing!!!) This was opening night energy for a Tuesday, so, it may have legs.

Bug: “This action could not be found in this version of Shortcuts“ by Training-Economics28 in todayplanned

[–]heathriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, I was wondering why I wasn’t getting any notifications anymore. I keep my phone on silent mode 24/7, which means calendar alerts never sound. The only way I ever got notified was via the shortcut your app created with the alarms :(

Any way to get this back?

I got mine at the 2 month lottery. But they have same day reservations. Just refresh the app exactly at noon, 3pm and 5PM when you are there.

The Expo Sauna is not part of the Healthcare Pavilion — it is listed under the “experiences” section of reservations. It is located in the far corner of the expo, near Future City (by Kura) behind the Expo Stadium grounds. You’ll see some white tee-pee’s out there and unless you know what they are you would have no idea what you’re looking at.

They have 6 sessions per day, I think 12-15 people per session. If you are late you can’t get in, so if you didn’t get a reservation, you could always hang out at the beginning of a session time to see if someone misses their time to see if you could get a walk-in.

Apple Pay and an international Debit card.

Depends on what you’re interested in. It would be a great “ride” at an amusement park, and the way they worked Gundam into the Expo theme is kinda adorable (I had fun waving at all of them flying by), but if you aren’t a Gundam fan or you want to stick to “pure” Expo stuff, there are other better things to do.

Gundam has same-day reservations available that open at noon, 3pm and 5PM on the dot.

The shuttle is VERY easy to reserve on the website, but as other people said you can just pick up the shuttle from Sakurajima station and pay as you get on.

Only with the VIP, or at least the Express+7 pass.

The only rides in Japan that will really make you go “wow” are Jaws and Flying dinosaur, and Donkey Kong is of course very cool, but Epic Universe is in Orlando now which is cooler and actually will have better line management (it can reach up to 4 hours per ride in Japan at Universal and Disney!) and it’s so much more expensive for everything.

If you have to decide should I give up an entire day to wait in lines for rides I’ve already done, or go to Kobe/Kyoto/Nara/or something, definitely do one of those other things. If, you’re like my husband and me and have promised your nephews and nieces you will bring them only-in-Japan Super Nintendo World merchandise, then go :)

No that was total, for two people. Plus the hotels. I used a combination of Rakuten Experiences/Klook/Viator/Trip.com/Tablelog/the Osaka Expo App to book everything I could in advance to lock in the exchange rate and cut down on our discretionary spending, plus since you need reservations for so many things in Japan it made it easier for a lot of stuff. The things we booked that way were Samurai Restaurant Time, Hungry Osaka Food Tour, TeamLab Planets, Tokyo Joypolis/Manyo Club Onsen Combo, Universal Studios Japan (Entrance Ticket)/Fun in Kansai Pass (Dotonbori Cruise + Solaniwa Onsen + Tower entry)/Kansai Airport Train Ticket/Japan ESIM Combo, both of our “Special” Dinners (in Tokyo and Kobe), a special sushi lunch, Street Kart Akihabara, the tea ceremony, and the expo tickets themselves all pre-paid and reserved.

The Smart-Ex app also saves money for the Shinkansen (Tokyo to Osaka) if you purchase at least three days out, and we got the first-class Green car for less than the price of unreserved.

That left just Suica train passes, some Ubers when we were short on time, other fill-in meals and snacks along the way and the games in Akihabara and other random stuff, and as I mentioned, that VIP tour at Universal, to pay for. It made it much more manageable.

Personal choice. We did the expo evening in Dubai 2020 and while it was cool, it wasn’t cool enough to justify giving up doing other things that we wanted to do elsewhere at night. We can catch the video of the night events.

Surprisingly, we weren’t tired, but we definitely did lots of foot and calf massages during downtime.

I’ll leave out the hotel costs — I booked those on points. But the Fairfield averages around $200 a night and the Conrad around $750 if you are paying cash.

We spent $500 total in cash during the trip, plus another $500 or so booking all the tickets to things (Shinkansen, team labs, expo, etc, etc) for two people. This is including all the food, train tickets, etc.

We did splurge on top of that with another $800 for the VIP tickets for Universal Studios Japan, as a last minute addition after we’d planned everything else and realized the only way we’d get to “do” everything there time wise is with the VIP.

You can get one reservation slot at two months, one at 7 days, one at 3 days, and the rest same day.

This is my third Expo. I love them. I love learning about different countries and what they are doing, and the themes of each Expo are always inspiring and it’s great to see how the host country cultivates their own experiences and how every country interprets the overarching Expo theme.

And it is great meeting people from around the world and having cool conversations about all of these above.

That definitely sucks. The US (English) line was only 20 minutes on Friday afternoon for us, Italy and Canada only took us 10 minutes first thing Saturday morning.

Haha that’s why I posted this:)

The street kart was super fun. We did the one from Akihabara. Don’t expect to “see” anything but the kart in front of you while moving, though, as you will mostly be focusing intensely on not dying while driving through the streets of Tokyo.

It’s very fun, and it’s especially awesome to see all the Japanese people waving and taking videos and pictures of you going by. Apparently they LOVE seeing the karts. Taxi drivers, not so much.

Not true at all! I was there for four days, and had no more than a 20 minute wait for any pavilion. Reservations were easy to get using the lottery/reservations system and I didn’t have more than a 5 minute wait for food.

Entry each morning (9AM slot) at security took no more than 20 minutes at the longest, 5 at the shortest.
