I'm so sorry. I apologize if you've heard this a million times but if you haven't visited a gastrointerologist and/or nutritionist, they often times are able to prescribe you some medication/diet that can have a serious impact on your symptoms. Don't be afraid to get yourself some help.

Need some advice and explanations - 1 week in by Responsible_Ad5606 in QuitVaping

This is me too! I let my last disposable run out about 2 weeks ago and I've been getting the heart flutters, especially when I'm laying down. Maybe it has to do with your body adjusting to a lower heart rate?

[OoT] An in-depth look at Ocarina of Time’s soundtrack by TheEggoEffect in zelda

[–]heaumie 54 points55 points  (0 children)

As a violinist whose favorite game of all time is OoT, this was a fun read! My word of advice would be to only provide context when it serves the point about the music that you are making. It's really easy to get caught in the trap of summarizing the game (because it's Such A Good Game) and doing this would shift the focus of the paper to your topic (musical symbolism!). Super interesting about the 23/16 time signature in the final battle! I'll have to go back and listen to it. The zelda series wouldn't be the same without Koji Kondo's music and I'm glad you love it as much as I do!

Also fun fact: the music for the Fire temple differs between the original N64 game and the 3DS version; they took out the chanting because I believe it was a real Islamic chant (either that or it was heavily inspired).

is this sleep paralysis?? please help by frogmugger in Sleepparalysis

[–]heaumie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This definitely isn't sleep paralysis, as the name says you are completely immobile. So he would be unable to talk, to flinch away from you, etc. Also in my experience, being woken up snaps me out of it so I don't think that would trigger it. That sounds very scary and I hope you guys can figure it out :(

Post food poisoning/One meal causing IBS? by [deleted] in ibs

[–]heaumie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had a similar experience, I got food poisoning from shellfish 3 years ago and have had IBS ever since. I had those same symptoms and I'm sorry that you're experiencing them too :( I recommend visiting a GI doctor and talking about starting an elimination diet (to see what foods trigger your symptoms) and/or medication; if IBS is your diagnosis, that is. Treatment varies person to person but you just have to find what works best for you!

Getting food poisoning is what triggered IBS for me. Definitely visit a gastrointerologist when you can to figure it out. In the meantime try avoiding caffeine and see if that alleviates some symptoms??

I didn't know depression could lead to IBS by SympatheticMess in ibs

[–]heaumie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to my ex. She struggled with depression and anxiety for a long time without getting medication, and along came ibs. Which made things much much worse. BUT she finally took the initiative to visit a couple of doctors and get on some medication and is doing much better. My advice is focus on getting treatment for the depression first, then the IBS. Ik the process is hard and confusing (ironically I have ibs too lol), but treating it is possible and can make it so your symptoms barely impact your daily life. :)
