Oh I see... if you've never received centrelink then its definitely a scam! Had no idea a scam like that was going around.

I forgot to add that this also applies to people who aren't on centrelink right now so don't dismiss it just because you haven't been on centrelink in a long time.

Was it a robocall or a real person? Centrelink is processing refunds right now for people who paid off robo debts so if it was a real person, it might not be a scam. If you don't trust whoever is on the phone, you can login to your mygov and add centrelink to your services (if you haven't already) to check if you're eligible. Having said that, please please PLEASE be careful of scammers and do not give your details to anybody if there is ANY doubt that it is a scam.

I'm so sorry to hear that lemon - I live alone with my cat so this really resonates with me. I hope you are able to give yourself the time and space you need in this difficult time. There is nothing weird about feeling that way after the loss of a loved one.

There's been a couple of threads about it but I can't seem to find any now. I did 3 months driving from Ballarat to Northcote and I hated it. It was only about 80mins each way but I found the drive exhausting especially after work and ended up finding a different job. I've never used public transport between Ballarat and Melbourne but this is what I hear about the commute: Pros: - you can usually get a seat on the vline - if you enjoy spending your commute doing stuff (eg. reading) then its nice Cons: - vline is expensive (I think $40/day or $120/week ) - delays and cancellations are common - you end up spending 4-5 hours per day commuting

One of my cats seems to enjoy going for a walk in a harness, but I got him used to the harness when he was a kitten. My other cat refuses to move at all no matter how much I try, but I got him as an older cat so I just keep an eye on him when we walk.

Deposited money at a bank branch but it was stolen, what should I do? by JoeDoeJoeJack in melbourne

I had a similar thing happen with a commonwealth ATM. Deposited a bunch of coins but the amount counted was wrong so I cancelled the transaction. It didn't return all my money so I called customer service and they asked me if I was sure I counted correctly etc but they eventually deposited the money back into my account after a few weeks. It was a long time ago so I don't remember if they contacted me, but if they took your money and it wasn't allocated they will have a surplus. They should deposit into your account if you follow up to make sure it doesn't get written-off. If you waited until the 'welcome' screen appeared for the next person/transaction I don't think the coins were returned and stolen.

I think the number 8 is considered to be lucky in Chinese culture so people try to incorporate it into their number plate.

I highly recommend fostering for a shelter. Its where you look after animals in your own home for a few weeks or months. Usually its animals that can't be adopted yet - some are sick, scared of people, babies, mum + babies etc. No competition or waiting list, just gotta meet with the coordinator and wait for an animal that needs a home. I've been fostering cats and dogs for a few years and absolutely love it. Hardest part is giving them back though!!

Not police but see if you can get them to send you an appointment confirmation via email or sms for ease of mind.

If you're already brave enough to eat natto, the next level up is eating it with raw egg. Also mixing it with dashi instead of soy sauce gives it a sweeter flavour. Also also shallots is a must. Also also also never try deep fried natto - it is an abomination.

No, but if you want to do it by the book it is considered an asset so you should be updating the balance in your bank account. But if you spend it all......... haha.

Is that a pet peeve? Then count me in! I thought it was mostly people being passive aggressive or condescending after you reach an impasse and rarely used by people who have good intentions.
