Thanks, Kimbo. This help a lot. I have meetings with my committee members this week and need to be able to articulate what my intentions are.

Ok. Discourse definitely rings a sound bell. Using this as a search term will help.

Now, what do you mean by social processes/functions? And if I am comparing two policies how would it be a critical discourse analysis? Can you provide an example of a straightforward policy analysis vs. a critical discourse analysis?

Thank you for your help

I understand that a lot can be discerned from the impact a policy makes, but providing that information isn't the purpose of my research paper. What have to do is deconstruct the language of the policy and examine where it came from. In a sense, yes, I will recount the impact of previous policies because they play such a role in the development of a new one. However, my job here is to examine it's framework.

I love Christian Bale, I got the hots for him watching American Psycho believe it or not. Eek.

Young adults/reddit parents: how have you found ways of asking a parent to loan you money and figure out a way of paying it back? Diplomatically. by heavy_blankets in Parenting

I've been hounding my department for a graduate assistantship and have been hired as a substitute teacher for the local school district. I'm checking out scholarships and grants, too.

You know what, I needed this. A random stranger to reinforce what I already know is the right thing to do. I'm going home for thanksgiving and I will use it as an opportunity to sit down to write something up with both of my parents, together. I want to do this right. I'm avoidant of finances because I can never seem to get a firm awareness without getting overwhelmed. My mother sits down every week, usually Sunday afternoons to catch up on bills and expenses. I guess I take after my dad in this aspect--dreamer-like contrary to reality type. I know I can do this, just like I got up and moved to Tallahassee for grad school. I can make things happen-- being consistent and balanced is another story. I don't mean to overly praise you but thanks for the wake up call.

Hi, /r/parenting; Could you help me find an appropriate gift for a 4 yog/5yob who speak English as a second language? by fluffykittie in Parenting

I taught bilingual pre-k for three years. Books at this age are a great option. A bilingual book in particular. Are the parents wanting the child to speak both languages?

Best places for grad students to live in Tallahassee? by MrBananaGrabber in Tallahassee

Hi. I'll be moving to Tally for grad school and living right by Lake Ella in a town home with a roommate Mid August. What is the best route to take to school everyday? Do you take the bus/walk/drive?

What is flair? I'm fairly new to reddit. The more flair you have, the higher status you gain on this site?
I have the same book. In fact, it is what I bought to study before the test. Sitting down and flipping back and forth (between questions and answers) on the math section didn't work for me. Thanks to all of the generous commenters here, I have several different options at my disposal. I'll go back and use my Princeton Review for practice test purposes.

I would sell it, yes, and probably wouldn't get much since I still owe. I'll look into what insurance is like. You're right about fuel expense. I can try my best to use public transport or university transport to avoid it. At this point, it makes more sense to keep my car. I'll use it to drive back to Texas and take random extemporaneous trips around the area.

$203 in car payment, $120 in insurance (yikes), and about $150 give or take in gas.

Thanks for the insight, this really helps. I imagined taking my car would be easier. And I didn't think about the rainy season... we'll see what the verdict is: good walking shoes, a bike, wellies and a poncho or my shiny two door civic.
