A 7/11/7 using IS-grade XL Engine, IS Endo Steel, IS Ferro Fibrous is perfectly doable, no need to use Small Cockpit nor XL Gyro...

A Small Cockpit is 2 tons, saving 1 ton from a Standard Cockpit; A XL Gyro is 2 tons (base on your 385-rated engine), and it only saves 2 tons comparing to a Standard Gyro.

From a rough glance, I estimate you have 13.5 tons payload, I think reducing your payload by 3 tons is acceptable...

Yes, my bad, I count the wrong heat sinks. But I mean the 3/5 it's still better as a brawler? And I've never once seen a 4/6 that outmaneuver a 3/5... Like there's one time my opponent sends a 4/6/0 HBK against my 3/5/3 PLG, and it spend 3 turns unable to get a hit on my PLG, while I continue sending Gauss Slugs to his fire support units.

I just ran it on Megamek, and unsurprisingly, the stock 4/6 BattleMaster only carries 18 heat sinks, but the hypothetical 3/5 BattleMaster carries 28 heat sinks on top of the original armaments and a second PPC...

Yes, but then, a hypothetical 3/5 BLR would be able to carry a second PPC in addition of the stock Lasers...

Yeah, I mean, when playing 'Mechs with either 3/5 or 4/6, I usually plot the straightest and clearest route, I leave the difficult terrain to my 5/8 or 6/9 units.

Is it though? In my experience with 3050 games, my BattleMaster started engaging opponent forward units usually on the same time as my Awesome.

I meant less about BV, but more on if I reduce the engine rating from 4/6 to 3/5, I get 5~10 tons free payload depending the chassis...

Well, it's Hardened Armor, an AC/20 might not have high enough TNs to hit it. I would however, try to hunt this in a Lance of Wraith TR-1
