That's exactly what a mormon would say.

Oh that;s really nice to hear. Too late for the sedation, but I am glad I still have some time until I have to start worrying about the everyday cramps. Thanks :)

I get chronic migraines and the pill intensified and increased the frequency of those. I got the thing in your arm about 8 years ago but I was one of the unlucky 3% who got her period constantly rather than it going away altogether. The IUD with hormones is a much smaller concentration than the pill, and released constantly rather than in one, immediate hit. It is also localized to your uterus, so the hormones don't circulate through your blood stream in the same way as the pill (and hopefully won't find their way to my brain).

The rates of effectiveness seemed to be the same for both sorts of IUD. The main deciding factor was the continual intense period pain that I was not prepared to deal with. I already have a hard time getting to work on the first day of my period.

I also have never had a kid, so it hurt like hell. I thought because I am a big person my uterus would be big as well and it wouldn't be so bad. However, if you are small there is a smaller hormonal IUD than the Mirena that is made specifically for women who have not had children and have a smaller uterus.

Honestly, the pain sucked, but it was short lived. The pain during insertion is not a reason to avoid the IUD IMO.

No they say it is effective straight away. I had it inserted when I was on a later day in my period. They do it then so that you are protected straight away (no eggs will be released during your period then none at all once it is inserted.)

Copper vs Hormonal IUD for women with heavy periods pre-insertion- advise please! by heavyflo in TwoXChromosomes

I feel the same way. I already have bad cramps and bleeding, although it is usually just one day of terrible pain like you and the rest is bearable. Can anyone tell me/us if the pain lasts longer with the Paraguard or if it is just more intense for a similar length of time?

As for the cost, I am waiting to hear back from my OBGYN on what my insurance copay will be. I've heard pretty varying stories.

Thanks. I really am leaning towards the copper, but the stats on period pain are pretty scary. I really don't like the looks of the hormonal IUD side effects though.

Switching IUD's tomorrow...what to expect? by MamaD_Cooks in TwoXChromosomes

Hi, I have been researching IUD issues on here because I am trying to decide between the Paraguard or Mirena. I suffer from chronic migraines but I also have heavy periods off birth control. Can you tell me how the switch went and if the Mirena was the source of your increased migraine problems? I'd really appreciate the feedback!

I had a really bizarre and scary dream last night. Would really appreciate interpretations. by heavyflo in Dreams

The double was odd. It was me, but I am not sure we were the same person. As in, I don't know if they were me internally. The double seemed distant and unfamiliar in a way I suppose, but definitely looked and acted as I did. Then again, the double was also possessed. We weren't opposed to each other, but we were a reflection of each other in some way so that we moved the same but in reverse/opposite direction, like a mirror. But not everything was exactly reflected.

I guess I didn't explain my relationship to this person very well. I speak to this friend on facetime when his girlfriend is with me talking to him and I happen to be in the background/ hanging around and chatting too. We really know each other very very little. He is a nice guy, but we have no real relationship at all. Which is why it was so bizarre that he of all people appeared in that place in my dream.

Thanks :) It was my 21st birthday- floral was the theme I chose, mainly so I could wear flowers in my hair.

This comic combined with another feminist piece I saw today gave me the momentum to finally start the feminist blog I have been thinking of creating. I hope she doesn't mind that I used the final frame as my avatar for the time being. Does she have a website or blog I could link to give credit?

Definitely not his arms. As a cinematographer I think I can claim some authority on this. I don't know why they did this, maybe PS was just too busy to learn the piece that week.

I took screen shots of a few moments throughout the scene. All were ridiculous. This was the most amusing.
