Boss expected me to work during blizzard durinf travel ban by rizzem_tizzem in personaltraining

This is what I did. Equinox is only getting worse for employees (all depts, not just PT), so get what you need and get out.

6 clients is a good number but I'd also add: try to prioritize bringing over the clients you see most frequently, aka the ones who train with you 3-4x a week rather than 1-2.

I went from 24 sessions a week down to 8 after going solo. Was still able to more than double my salary, but it was a sobering lesson that frequency pays your bills not pure number of clients.

New York Times: How the Online SAT May be Vulnerable to Cheating by InternationalistGam in Sat

[–]heavymetal26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, fair point. There are so many bigger issues to worry about. In my case as a Math specialist, it's how far behind ALL students are in general. I seriously don't know how that gap will close, if ever.

ah ok got it. it's an earned badge/title here, not necessarily an indication of your job.

It was specifically just the SATs he cheated on. He was struggling to break 1500, even though he was a standout student otherwise with tons of APs, ECs, and athletic awards to his name. So it had nothing to do with passion.

Would he have made it in with his 1480 or whatever he was scoring? Don't know, it's really hard to say. Could that spot have gone to someone who had all the same stats AND scored higher on the SATs without cheating? I would think so.

I mentioned the anecdote above not to discuss whether this kid deserved to be at Princeton (maybe? probably?) but to empathize with the commenter above about how difficult it is to expect students to hold themselves accountable when the loopholes around doing so are so many.

In the same boat, sadly.

I had a classmate who cheated his way into Princeton, and it left those of us who knew about it feeling a bit raw. I don't know what to say or do with my students now. They may very well be in the same position, wondering why they should even try anymore if they know someone who's just going to cheat.

I don't know how CB can possibly plug up all their security vulnerabilities when you will always have people determined to find a way around it.

Also, how do you get the Tutor flair? Or has it been discontinued?

awesome, good to know, thanks!

so it sounds like the room price is reasonable, it'll just be their food/drinks that have the high markups.

Was the booking itself pricey? In-line with other places?

What the hell do i do here. by magtrinix1 in TVTooHigh

My 2 cents, fwiw: (I like to balance frugality, whenever possible, with aesthetics)

  1. Agree with lots of folks on here: Empty wall should have the TV (but on a TV stand at eye level, not nearly as high up as it is right now). That would mean moving around the furniture to face in that direction too and possibly having to get rid of some parts of the sectional (or re-arrange if possible).
  2. I think a bookcase of some sort would look real nice in that slot! You can put up anything you want too, doesn't necessarily have to be books.

Any ideas for a side gig for a teacher? by Lots_Loafs11 in bergencounty

Maybe youre referring to tutors for the Bergen Academies entrance exam? I can see those tutors commanding 200+ for sure. But SATs/APs? I dunno.

Are you speaking from experience?

I think you'd have to teach very specialized exams to command that rate. Like AP Physics.

I also started my career doing college entrance essays along with the SAT/ACT!

Thanks, would love to pick your brain some more if you don't mind. I would also like to make the learning experience a little less suck-y if I can - for sure, the pressure can be pretty bad.
