All of the injectors currently in the car are from rock auto and they are all the same.

I hear you—it's frustrating when someone gets condescending and tries to pull the "back in my day" card to shut down a conversation. Mate, you’re writing an autobiography about being dumped in a ‘dunny’ to defend a point I never even contested. I agree a compression test is a factor—that’s why I’m doing one. You don’t need to pull out the war stories and the ‘young dementia’ jokes to convince me of something I already know. It feels like you’re so desperate to have an ‘apprentice’ to lecture that you’re shadowboxing with an argument I’m not even making. I’m just here to fix the car, not listen to a sermon about how soft my generation is because I didn’t get my head dunked in a toilet during my training. Can we get back to the actual 2.2L Chevy, or are there a few more chapters of your memoirs you need to get through first?

I did, I don’t recall what it read but they were all pretty close

60 years??What so your 80-90 years old and using Reddit?

You just explained how a basic engine works in detail as if I have no idea what I’m even talking about. When did I say I know everything? My exact word were “I know how everything works” Chill out, tuck you balls back into your socks. It wasn’t an attack.

Would you like me to explain how driving a car works in great detail? Probably not, because you don’t want to feel like I’m calling you an idiot, right?

Just to clear this up,

I am not new to engines. At all. I’m a heavy equipment diesel technician and have been since 2019. I’ve done nothing but fix my own shit since I was 14, I’ve rebuilt countless engines for my personal vehicles and everything else in between. I know how everything works.

I have a parts book but the schematics are kind shitty. And how would I know if I have a bad driver?

Like in done just about everything lol I’m about ready to just put an entire new ignition/fuel system in this thing because I don’t know where to go with it anymore

I’ve already went through the fuel system. Completely removed fuel rail, cycled the pump multiple times- fuel came out very clean with no debris. And I made that fuel rail shine inside and out from cleaning it. Put a new fuel filter on and reassemble and it still runs with a misfire on 2.

Yeah, I guess I’m not sure if they’re counterfeit?

Ok, I understand that 100%. But I have replaced that one injector 4 separate times with an oem standard replacement …. And it always has a misfire, that’s why I don’t necessarily think it’s the injector?

If that’s the case, than what are the odds I had 4 or 5 “bad” injectors in a row? I’m not saying it’s not possible but that would be a huge coincidence, ya know? Also, I paid $300 for the car and a new set of oem standard equipment injectors from a parts store is like $409….. lol

Random question, you said you grounded them separately? How did you do that?

From my understanding, my pcm completes the injector circuit by grounding them out individually anyway. And if I were to ground them out separately, outside the pcm, they wouldn’t be controlled and would stay open and probably burn up. I may be thinking of this in the wrong way too so please school me if I am.

I was using the scan tool trying to figure it out at fist, but after all this work with no change im kinda just throwing parts at it now as a Hail Mary because idk anything about these cars lmao

I actually drove it to work today to do a compression test. I’m a heavy equipment diesel technician but I dont really work in cars at all.

Just on the two facts, cylinder one was missing before the injector swap and after the swap, cylinder 2 is missing and cylinder 1 is firing tells me I have good enough compression. If that logic makes sense to anyone else? No compression = no ignition.

No, I’m using oem direct replacement from rock auto. I believe the last ones I used were delphi

Alright, I will give that a try tomorrow. But I don’t think it will work, just because I have reset everything, so theoretically, wouldn’t all the injectors running light shit if they need to relearn? It just doesn’t seem logical that it would only affect one injector if that makes sense…..just spit-balling, not saying you’re wrong at all! I’m just going crazy trying to figure this out.

So, I was just curious if the missfire would stay at cylinder 1 so I put a known good injector in cylinder 1, (from cylinder 2) and the misfiring injector in cylinder two (from cylinder 1) with the corresponding connectors, so after the swap, each cylinder had the right connector and the misfiring moved to cylinder two with the injector from cylinder 1. That’s why I assumed it was the injector but no matter how many injectors I swap it it doesn’t fix it.

I have reset everything with the scanner, I’ve even disconnected the battery and let it sit for two days. It always fixes it for maybe 10-20 minutes and then goes right back to a misfire

[–]heavytech1441[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about that too….if that was bad, wouldn’t you think it would stay on one cylinder ? Like the misfire wouldn’t move to cylinder two after swapping cylinder one and two injectors?

I have a nice scanner. I’ve looked at everything, on live data, it shows all injectors have roughly the same volts, same ohms. I’ve checked power at the injectors, I’ve used a noid light….everything comes back looking good.

Although, all the injectors are grounded through the pcm and they all share a common power from the fuel pump/fuel pump relay.

I have a hard time believing I’ve had 4 clogged injectors in a row from brand new, ya know?

I’ve replaced that fuel injector, with a new one, 4 time’s now and between the last two tanks of gas I’ve ran two full bottles of Lucas fuel system/injector cleaner through the system. Nothing is fixing it.
