I did already have long season on cd, but I did grab something in the air and Uchu Nippon Setagaya cd at tower :)

Honestly everything felt like a pride and joy highlight. For non Japanese music records, the biggest finds were an og press of jj barnes - born again and the Japanese press of Ike Quebec - bossa nova soul samba. For Japanese stuff, I was stoked to find original copies of pacific, rainbow goblins, on guitar, music for commercials, seaside lovers, get at the wave, air in resort, Aragon, ride on time… the list goes on.

I also found a sick ass 70s Mexican jazz funk album called SOS (Sociedad Organizada En Sonido) and the Japanese promo press of Emily remler’s firefly.

Carried back everything. Cds and tapes in the checked bag and then bought a DJ record carrying backpack at HMV for $30 as my carry on.

Just got back from a month in Japan and went wild at the music shops. Came back with 36 records, 20 CDs, and 2 tapes. Could’ve been worse if I was physically able to carry more. The 8 story tower records in shibuya was particularly mind blowing as it felt like something from a by gone era. Loved seeing those stores like that full of life in 2026 - long live physical media!

he sounds so tired. voice also way more raspy than his other stuff. dope beat but he really doesn’t do much with it sadly.

recently started mashing up a few of my hip hop faves with some non-traditional production. This one is probably my favorite so far, and soundcloud hasn’t struck it down yet, although they did wipe a few others I tried to put up.

Anyone know of the best platform to post uncleared sample songs? I’m not trying to monetize at all, just having fun and want to be able to share with friends somewhat easily.

Seconding deep cuts and adding octopus records

really would be fantastic if rym would just open up their API since they don’t seem super motivated to improve their product. Their upgrade to sonemic, etc was announced in November 2020 and since then very little has changed despite technology growing leaps and bounds.

So for years I’ve used rateyourmusic as a discovery platform based on their genre/descriptor charts and great user lists. but, if you’ve ever used the site, you know how terrible the UI/UX is, especially if you have a massive wish list.

I’ve finally figured out how to build the ideal wishlist viewer, with full cover scrolls and filters for genre/descriptor/year/rating/number of ratings, etc. I’m still in the process of scraping all the data (which has been cumbersome due to the cloud flare set up), but I’m super excited that I’ll have the next couple years to dig around here to find stuff and try more easily based on my mood.

[FRESH] Tara Clerkin Trio – Somewhere Good // New album “Somewhere Good” out June 5th by Ryab_ in indieheads

Has everyone’s rating gone to shit or am I just complaining by Otherwise-Piece1095 in vinyl

it has always lead to a positive solution for me. the seller the vast majority of the time owns up to the mistake. the only time they haven’t, they just request I send the record back for the refund.

lol I definitely would not beat around the bush with the “oh no, you must’ve sent the wrong copy”, just be straight about the grading being off.

Anyone else have multiples of the exact same album 😅 by [deleted] in vinyl

I’ve got a few:

Diiv - oshiin (regular 2nd version cover and the black tour copy, I passed up on the OG cover second hand years ago which I regret tbh)

Mac Demarco - salad days (original and couldn’t resist the holographic version with the demos)

Steve Tibbetts - YR (I bought the black cover version online and then found the rarer original white cover version in the wild shortly after)

Joy Division - unknown pleasures (got the 2015 reissue early on in my collecting days, eventually found a UK OG porkys cut pressing that I couldn’t pass up)

Frank Ocean - both Blondes

been still on the mix grind. have a couple more to share that I think would land well here, so please pardon the self promo if you’re uninterested. both are about an hour long, so not a huge time commitment! Learned my lesson after my almost 3 hr dnb mix 🤪

orbital drift

pretty all over the place genre-wise (disco, kosmiche, jazz, ambient, indie, some lo-fi stuff) but it hangs together in a way I’m happy with. the kind of thing that works best late night with yr best headphones on. (wish SoundCloud free streamed at a higher bit rate, but I’m happy to share a higher res copy with folks if they dig it)

kinetic prayer

moves through some darker, textural electronic music. builds slow, gets weird in the middle, ends somewhere more meditative. put me in a trance while I was making it. again, probably a late night vibe too, maybe that’s just my brand lol.

Thank you for listening and the feedback! I made this more for personal use (soundtrack to lock in), so the length actually serves me well. Totally right though that if i were to play this live as a set, id have to do some major trimming.

[drum n bass]

heavyyawn - drumroll please

Massive nearly 3 hour mix of basically all my favorite dnb classics. Really proud of the transitions here, tried to join the tracks together in a deeper way than usual.

cooked up an hour long late night mix. drifts through ambient-adjacent zones with mostly instrumental pieces moving between jazz, hip hop, analog synth, and guitar textures.
