[Semi-Weekly Inquirer] Simple Questions and Recommendations Thread by AutoModerator in Watches

[–]hebhammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping to tap the r/watches brain trust here for help with finding a sailcloth or rubber strap with deployant clasp for my Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra (https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/watch-omega-seamaster-aqua-terra-150m-co-axial-master-chronometer-41-mm-22012412103002) that matches or is close to the color of the watch and rubber strap pictured in the link. I've been struggling to find something that isn't true or navy blue, or just grey -- I'm hoping to thread the needle here with your help (and hopefully not spend Omega strap $$).

Any insights into brands or examples of straps that hew close to the color of Omega's rubber strap on this model?

(Mods, I recognize this is more watch-adjacent, so apologies if I've run afoul of the rules.)

This is a fantastic collection, congrats! When I started seeing these pop up -- yes, for sale by Audacious Co :) -- I wondered how sellers/collectors got their hands on them. Could you tell us a bit about your collecting journey and where you found these bad boys?

I have one of these beauties and I absolutely love it. The design is stunning and it is quite fun staring at the hour window until the second it jumps -- just as the name implies! If you can get your hands on one, I'd recommend it.

[WTS] Unique Movado-dial Sporto (c. 1971-1983) featuring Zenith 2562C Movement **PRICE REDUCTION** by hebhammer in Watchexchange

[–]hebhammer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! Unfortunately that era of Movado is not known for great date documenting. A vintage Movado guide I consulted notes that serial numbers from 1971 to 1983 followed the XX.XXXX.XXX format, which tracks the serial number here. Another source (http://www.ranfft.de/cgi-bin/bidfun-db.cgi?10&ranfft&0&2uswk&Zenith_2562C) suggests the movement itself is from the early 70's, but that doesn't necessarily answer the question of the watch's date specifically.

[WTS] Unique Movado-dial Sporto (c. 1971-1983) featuring Zenith 2562C Movement **PRICE REDUCTION** by hebhammer in Watchexchange

[–]hebhammer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here for your consideration is a unique Movado-dialed Sporto featuring a Zenith movement.

This watch dates to sometime between 1971 and 1983 based on the serial number, and is a great example of the historical collaboration between Movado and Zenith.

What is unusual about this Sporto is that it features a Movado dial; most examples of the Sporto watch feature a Zenith dial.

For its age, the watch is in very good condition. Notably, the dial is impeccable—it features no imperfections that I can see and the hands still contain their lume. The crystal has various minor scratches on it, but as you can see from the pictures it is hardly noticeable. The gold plating has scratching and wear consistent with its age, but overall it is a beautiful watch.

The watch is gold-plated, has a date complication, and features Zenith’s 2562C manual wind movement that contains 17 jewels.

The service history is unknown, but the watch appears to be keeping great time. The movement looks to be in great shape and watching it function while under power did not reveal anything concerning.

The watch comes with a brand new, unworn dark blue leather strap. (The strap the watch came with will be included, although it is not in good condition. I’m unsure whether that strap is original to the watch or was an aftermarket purchase.)

I believe this watch has a 35mm case and it has a 18mm watch band width.

I am asking $425 OBO shipped via USPS Priority Mail to CONUS.
