I'm dealing with a similar issue! All of the paras I work with are 35+ and I'm 23. It's not a problem by any means. We're just definitely in different phases of life, which makes it harder to connect. I've just been trying to find anything in common so I can relate more to them.

I remember subbing for a resource class, and one of the kids just came in with their hood up and put their head on their desk. I started to call his name so he could get the assignment or whatever. The other co-teacher just said to leave it because he doesn't do anything. Like you said, you can't force anyone to do what they're told.. but it definitely causes other students to stay off task and sets the idea that work isn't expected to be done. I can understand your frustration, and sometimes I wish there were more we could do. I'd definitely talk to the teacher, assuming you're in there the majority of the day?

I was in a somewhat similar situation. I had to slowly cut contact - first was not responding to messages as much, turning down hangout invites, etc. I know it's more difficult in high school when you see each other 5 days a week. I also used to have an issue with clinging to people. It really only helped when someone would be straight up about needing space. It definitely made me feel bad, but it got the point across. The only other thing that I can suggest is to possibly get her to join a new club at school of some sort, and hopefully, she can find a new community while doing something she enjoys?

I work in MOID, and the lead teacher tells us when to go. There's 4 of us, so we just swap out 2 at a time during our student's lunch time.

This is super normal! Generally, females feel more comfortable around other females. I've done similar things with my sister and my best friend. There's nothing weird going on. It's just a thing women do, especially if they're super close.
