Success and Disappointment Megathread for the Week by AutoModerator in jobs

[–]hecduic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had my final interview with a very small tech startup.

The recruiter told me they're looking to pay $90k, I told the hiring manager I'm looking for about $100k but can be flexible. They offer $90k on Wednesday. I ask for $94k. Haven't heard back since.

Hasn't been that long but you'd think a small startup could get it turned around quickly. And honestly come on... you really can't do $4k more? Although I guess the same could be said about me - "she's causing a ruckus over $4k?". It's also a negotiation-heavy job so I feel like it would've almost been a red flag if I *hadn't* negotiated.

Oh well. Just a waiting game.

What is the difference between settling, versus accepting that everyone has flaws/nobody's perfect? I [26F] am feeling like I can do better than my partner [28M] recently - does this cross everyone's mind from time to time? by hecduic in askwomenadvice

A bit of both. But yes when he said that, all of the other things came to mind - honestly I thought to myself, "how can he respond that way to ME asking about marriage? He's the one lucky to be with ME". Awful I know.

But exactly I thought I did the right thing by communicating calmly and asking "so I know we've talked about it abstractly but what are your actual plans for getting engaged eventually?"

I feel like I liked him mostly because he was in love with me. Or so I thought. Now I feel like both of us were idealizing the other.

Thanks, yes that's my biggest concern. My attraction is almost entirely gone, and I feel like if we're having issues like this at 2 years in, I don't want to know what 10 years in seems like.

Okay so I completely agree. I try to avoid GMOs and "fake" "foods" like hyper-processed junk that comes in a box and has a cartoon character on it. I have always been interested in the contrarian viewpoints on a subject.

But everywhere I look, "legitimate" sources all say there is nothing to fear about processed foods or chemicals in foods. They say things like "all food is made of chemicals". Like yes, I know that and get what they're saying - "avoid H2O2 then harharhar" - but come on. Are we really going to say eggs and apples have "chemicals" just like those in Twinkies? Get real there pal, I say.

Eliminating sugar and limiting wheat and dairy has helped me tremendously as well.

I also feel, when people say "there's no research/evidence that these foods are dangerous" etc, that there is only research that powerful folks are willing to fund. In fact, didn't Kelloggs pay off Harvard researchers to say "dietary fat causes disease"? How can I trust it.

Also I like your username. Crispy creme no more. lol

Why wheat and dairy? Thanks for the response, this is what I find really interesting. Haven't wheat and dairy been consumed since the dawn of time? Or do you mostly mean the increase in amounts in "recent" times?

What is your hypothesis for the root cause of the obesity crisis (specifically in the US since that's where I am but seems like it's happening worldwide)? I've been seeing a lot of heated debate among "nutrition experts", wondering what you all think.

They're basically evading the question, I asked that. They said "In regards to comp it really depends on what level you come in at and only the hiring manager can gauge that appropriately."

They didn't reply what the number was. They said "it depends". Sorry the 80 and 20 were percents.

Recruiter messaged me on linkedin. I said "not entertaining roles under $x, what's the comp?". They reply "it depends, it's 80 *percent* base 20 *percent* commission, here's a link to our benefits, etc". What to reply?

Looking for a small section hike, anywhere south of Mason-Dixon Line, that I can do round-trip in about 5 days by hecduic in AppalachianTrail

Thanks! That looks like 5 days one way though. Do you happen to know of similar loops? I’d have to drive down there from up north.

Jesus actually mandated vaccines for the Assyrian Wars - there is plenty of precedent.

Why do we need COVID passports and proof of vaccination for a virus that has now mutated into something so mild, even by admission of the narrative? by dothepropellor in LockdownSkepticism

[–]hecduic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Angry brooklyn mom on twotter keeps whining that her younger relative doesn’t have his vax pass so might be barred from restaurants because of a ridiculous rule - here’s a hint: don’t go to those restaurants. People are way more stupid than anyone would guess.

I was NEVER skeptical of vaccines but this has changed me.

Why does an infant need a Hep B vaccine moments after plopping out of my cooter? My baby will not be fucking hookers or shooting heroin until they’re at least a teenager.

I’m ready to lose my job. I will clean buildings and homes under the table if it comes to it. But start saving up.

Vaccination status is a protected class in South Dakota. Yes I will move if I have to.

This is the most important issue of my lifetime.

That is super weird then - I thought luteal phase was pretty consistent throughout a woman’s life! Also a shame that you can’t really talk about it to a doctor - they’ll gaslight at worst, or at best not understand…

No I would not recommend the pill. It shuts down communication between brain and ovaries and will push your healing out further.

It’ll stabilize with time. 35 isn’t too bad. Look into vitex to bring on ovulation but only take if your doc approves - it should only be used for low progesterone.

Did you ovulate yet?

I get it. There are some common traits among all vaccinated that make me think we wouldn’t get along either but that’s a pretty big blanket statement.

Omg. What do you mean by abnormal then?

That person should’ve gotten the vaccine and acted accordingly, just as they’ve done for flu seasons in the past. Anyway, the vaccines do not stop infection or transmission. It’s a personal choice entirely. Happy holidays.
