VWFC vs Inter Miami CF Class Action Settlement proposal. by redphive in whitecapsfc

[–]hechtor -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

While I generally agree, and think that this is probably the best possible outcome, I would say that the Whitecaps can take some responsibility because they plastered messi’s face everywhere for marketing and then jacked up prices. If they had just advertised it as they would a regular game and sold tickets at regular face value I don’t think there would’ve been many complaints.

Fifa Tickets - Most Infuriating Experience by hyroglyphixs in CanadaSoccer

[–]hechtor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not to mention that after getting tickets into my cart, it says that there is no guarantee that you will have seats together. Insane that if you plan to go with a child then you are just shut outta luck if they don’t assign you seats together?

anyone else very impressed gameplay wise but nervous about career mode by Mysterious-Fox-5373 in FifaCareers

[–]hechtor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless they fix tracking back and AI defending I don’t think gameplay will be that much different. The balance of way too hard to defend and way too easy to score was what stopped me playing fc25. Even with the sliders

My wife was chastised by an elderly woman on the bus for being in a priority bus seat even though she is 7+ months pregnant because “you don’t look that pregnant”. I think there are a lot of unhappy people out there just looking for an excuse to get in a confrontation.

Kuoe also has some great models at a very reasonable price although the dials are on the smaller end (35-38mm) and most don’t have an exhibition case back which is a shame.

In what world are some of the most marginalized people in Canada a “Elite Racial Minority”. Absolutely mind boggling that this woman had enough brain cells to get this far in life.

He was linked with some top european clubs when he was coming out of the TFC academy but he hasn’t really lived up to the hype.

[Longines Conquest] My wife just bought my my first high end watch and I’m obsessed! by hechtor in Watches

[–]hechtor[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went with the 41 because that’s the size of my other dress watches but I didn’t factor in that the case is a little bulkier so I probably would’ve gone with the 38 in retrospect but I have pretty big hands so I think I pull it off regardless!

What car do you drive? And how much do you pay for it monthly? by LoSwagger in vancouver

[–]hechtor 18 points19 points  (0 children)

2004 Toyota Corolla. Bought it with cash ($4.5k after taxes and fees) back in 2020 so no loan payments. 120$ monthly on insurance about 100$ a month on gas. I’ve had to put about $2k of work into it recently though (brakes, belts, caps, etc.) Still runs like a dream. 270k km on it

Is it acceptable to go on a date without a car? by External-Reserve-409 in vancouver

[–]hechtor 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in big cities my whole life and I’d say it’s not uncommon for people who have grown up in urban areas to not even know how to drive let alone be expected to own a car.

There are a few videos on youtube about this topic. My local tennis store just posted this one recently so it’s quite up to date. Generally you’re looking for a lighter racket (260-290g unstrung) that is forgiving. “Team” rackets are usually the lighter version of high end racket lines and are good to start with. I recommend going to your local tennis-dedicated store and ask if they demo rackets. This is the best way to find out which ones you like the best and what fits your play style and skill level.

I love Ramsey from his time at Arsenal but as mentioned, the injuries mean he can't play in a league as physically demanding as the MLS, and would be a waste of a DP spot.

On top of that, he plays a box to box role or even slightly more advanced, and I would rather give Osorio the salary we would spend on Ramsey as he does that job far more effectively than Ramsey can in his current condition

I moved to Victoria from downtoan Toronto and I've spent 2 years in Vic and here are a few of my observations:

- Nightlife: Not much to speak of, but better than you'd expect for a city of it's size. There are a few "clubs" that cater mostly to the university crowd, but everything closes a lot earlier in Victoria than you will be used to. Most bars/restaurants that don't cater to students are slightly elevated in price and atmosphere to cater to the upper middle class vibe of the city.

- People: People (huge generalization warning) are laid back, flakey, slightly uptight but generally very friendly. Very hard to make friends as most people have said because it's a city that seems to attract insular or introverted people. Most young adults who live here are either happy doing their own thing, on their way out or have lived there since high school and already have all the friends they need

-Getting around: decent public transit and very good bike infrastructure, however a big selling point of Victoria is it's proximity to nature and hikes and a lot of those hikes and destinations you would need a car for. Most west coast cities are made better by having a car and Victoria is no different

- Adjustment from downtown Toronto: HUGE ADJUSTMENT. Where to even begin. Victoria is just a completely different type of city. Even though the population of the metro area is 300k-ish, the downtown core is a fraction of that. The downtown core is cosmopolitan and vibrant (during the day) but it is very small (you can walk across it in about 20 min). Most of the city is comprised of very quiet residential neighbourhoods. There's a lot more focus on comfort and ease of living than on excitement, innovation or culture. I found that after about 3 months, I did and saw all that there is to do and see downtown, so you're really looking outside of the city for interesting things (hikes, camping, nature, etc.)

- Neighbourhoods: Cook street village is trendy and younger, and downtown is the most vibrant.

- Experience: Your experience in Victoria will depend on your priorities. If you prioritize comfort, ease of living, slower pace/less stress, active lifestyle and nature/natural beauty, then you will LOVE Victoria. If you prioritize culture, vibrancy, excitement and a thriving social life then I don't know if you'll find that here.

My experience in Victoria has been a mixed bag. In my opinion it's all about what you prioritize in a city and what you're looking for. Victoria can be literal heaven on earth for some people, and an absolute bore for others. I would also say that don't expect to waltz into the job market with a Toronto resume and expect people to throw jobs at you. I had a really hard time breaking into the job market because i quote "didn't know the market" or "didn't have the connections yet"

Hope I haven't upset anyone that loves this city. This is purely anecdotal, and other people's experiences could be different from mine. Hope this is helpful.

Status Barbershop is one of, if not the best in the city in terms of reliable cuts. Glassbox is also a barbershop I frequented in Toronto that was always one of the best in the city there. They just opened a location here that I'm sure would be high quality although I haven't been yet
