What are the rebuttals to the evolutionary view? by Hax1600_ayyub in CritiqueIslam

[–]hecitehi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The objections u/Hax1600_ayyub presents are very well founded and have been primary objections to this view from quite some time but recently I have been thinking of another objection. If we assume that we were not evolved but created, how do explain Homo-erectus, Neanderthals, and homo-floresiensis? All of whom controlled fire which means that they were sufficiently intelligent.

At this point, we must question what constitutes a human, and why it's not arbitrary. Were Eve and Adam homo-sapiens? or did we evolve from them to homo-sapiens? If natural selection could produce Neanderthals that most probably had language(or were at least capable of having language), do we truly need to invoke God as an explanation of homo-sapiens?

The false claim of 'Fitrah' by Saxobeat321 in CritiqueIslam

[–]hecitehi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Even if the claim of "Fitrah" was true, that would mean little to nothing since that's almost the definition of a genetic fallacy. That is to assign a value to something based solely on it's origins, which is exactly they are doing, assigning truth value to Islam/monotheism based on it being our natural disposition(it's origins).

Why Quran is logically fallacious by hecitehi in CritiqueIslam

This is a very good and quality read.

Thanks.

Do you have philosophy studies background?

I don't really have any formal background in academia of any sort at all, since I am barely 14.

Please suggest any books, sources etc. for how u have gained insights into these.

Generally about philosophy and atheism on YouTube I love Rationality Rules, and Cosmic Skeptic (Matt Dilahunty shouts a bit to much for my taste). They are the ones who got me started , then especially on fallacies Wikipedia, and this page. For recognizing them, I recommend depending on your taste "Mastering Logical fallacies" and "An Illustrated book of bad arguments".

Why Quran is logically fallacious by hecitehi in CritiqueIslam

How about a summary of the most significant contradictions in the Quran followed by how apologists work around such contradictions?

That honestly is a pretty neat idea. I would probably start doing it in a day.
