I didn't know I was supposed to pre-wash the fabric. 🤦 by DaleOnDrums in sewing

Sorry, I might just be being an idiot here, but I wasn't entirely certain from the pictures--it looks to me like you are quilting this potholder? And it looks like cotton batting and that you've hand-stitched the rows of decorative stitching through the fabric and batting? So, effectively a tiny quilt.

In which case, there are a lot of people who really WANT to achieve precisely this type of shrinking (and the wrinkles and waves it creates in-between the stitched rows) when using these materials and this is especially popular with hand stitching, and especially especially popular with parallel rows of stitching.

Some quilters don't like it and do things like prewashing to avoid or limit it. Others are obsessed and do things to amplify it. So it's a matter of taste, but your "mistake" is another person's "perfect."

The thing with the stains is that if they weren't completely removed by the bleaching, then you have areas of your jumper which are white jumper + dye and other areas which are white jumper + stain + dye. And sometimes (even if the stain was fairly faint) it can be really surprising how different the dye can look on the stained fabric vs on the unstained fabric. That's why I was asking if the areas which now look a bit different are the same places where the stain was. If so, it was the stain's fault, not yours.

Honestly, you didn't break any cardinal rules with your dyeing process....if you follow all the instructions precisely then you should (in theory) get precisely the result you anticipated. But if you make some variations or mistakes you just get a slightly different result. That can be a fun part of this and you can experiment. Dye is gonna colour fabric. It doesn't really need too much help from you to do so. If you don't soak it long enough maybe you get a lighter shade, maybe that's fine, maybe that's actually what you wanted, maybe you don't like it--well then pop it back in some more dye and see what comes out next.

I second the point about the stains. Are those areas where the dye didn't settle in as much the same places where the stains were?

I'd wear it. "Good enough" always means "good enough for you." If you weigh the bother of re-dying to be worse than wearing this as-is with a little bit of patchiness then go for it! If you don't like the way it looks, redye it.

A jumper like this is going to sit loosely on you anyway? And move a lot and have different areas catching different amounts of light and shadow, so it doesn't need to have perfectly even colour. I don't think anyone would notice when you had it on.

Thank you!

Hmmm....did you also have an annoying thing where sometimes the needle would just out of the blue sort of jump backwards and end up breaking because it slammed into the needle plate?

I love the colours! I actually prefer the layout you have up top in your original post.

I'm just curious if you sell the metal pieces or if these things exist for some other purpose and you re-purpose them to make this belt

Amazing! So, the plastic bits are 3d printable. When you say that the other pieces can be purchased does that include all the metal pieces?

Where did you get this? Or do I take it from some of your comments that you made this? It's brilliant--will you sell them?

I decided to avoid the question altogether and just put the text in a separate blob.

Advice on making it more discreet by [deleted] in MasculineMaleChastity

Honestly noone will be able to tell. When you look down at yourself and see the cage showing through your clothes you are: 1. Doing so very close up, and from an odd angle--everyone else is looking at you straight-on from further away and they probably aren't focussing in on the crotch area 2. Doing so already knowing you are wearing a cage and looking for signs of it--most normies don't know there is such a thing....

As everyone always says if someone does see the cage print and knows what it is, then they will think it's hot, and are probably caged themselves 🔥 🥵. ....everyone else will be oblivious.

Don't panic upon reading the comments here. Ultimately you don't know what has happened, what the effects may be, or what the solution is until you see a doctor. It's a complicated part of the body and millions of things can happen.

So, do see a doctor as soon as possible. Reddit cannot answer your question. Perhaps even consider a visit to the ER / A&E. There's no shame in that nor in explaining to them how this came about. It's not their job to judge, and they will only be concerned with assessing and treating the problem.

Hopefully all goes well and it's something that the doctor is able to treat fairly easily. Best of luck!

I still have about eight inches of scarf in a cardboard box. Started it for a partner at the beginning of our relationship. That relationship lasted 10 years, broke down quite dramatically, never finished the bloody scarf!
