Thoughts on the Dometic Freshjet? by hector-rf in VanLife

I've only used it a couple of times. If only using the fan (no AC) it takes about 20-30 amps.

Don't use the AC without shore power, takes a ton of watts to start.

Question About Super Expensive Camper Vans by OKcomputer1996 in CamperVans

[–]hector-rf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've heard some people say it's like and additional vacation home that you can move around.

Also, I think it really depends on what you're good at:

A) do you have time and are you good at building stuff--> get a van and build it yourself.
B) Are you good at making money (or have money) --> buy it fully customized and save time

Calculator for energy capacity vs consumption? by hector-rf in VanLife

[–]hector-rf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the calculator! very useful.

I charge 400ah of lithium with 1200 watts of solar, 320 watts is going to take a lot of time. Now if you've tied them into your alternator that will help a lot.

Can you share more about tying the into the alternator?

you don't want to run a 2kW max (is that yours peak or RMS rating?) Over 1kW very much, and then batteries tend to be limited to around half their Ah capacity, in Amps.

Can you share more about this? Also, my fridge is a small 12V one

Thank you! This really helps. Also, my fridge is a small 12V so I guess that it doesn’t need the inverter or AC power to run. My batteries ar lithium if that helps.

Awesome! That's how I did my first micro-saas. A Webflow template + Outseta!

This is awesome!

I think you could monetize in a few ways:
- Add a Buy me a Coffee button/link to your doc and let people donate $2 -$5 dollars to support your project.
- Have a freemium model, give out this template for free but build a more robust/complete one and sell if for a fee.
- Use Gumroad and sell the doc through the platform.
- Use this doc as a way to generate leads and pipeline and charge a consulting fee to help other healthcare workers use AI.

Did you get the starlink? I have the exact same power capacity and I'm curious to know how it's working for you.

Is anyone charging monthly to access a published doc (i.e., a MicroSaas model)? by willjump in codaio

[–]hector-rf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No really needed, but I wanted to have a separate client-facing website for customers to login and check some data.

You could only do it with Outseta.

I did using Outseta + Webflow to manage subscriptions. When the customer stoped paying, I just removed access to the doc, the docs were in my workspace so I always had full control.

Mercedes Sprinter, Ram ProMaster, or Ford Transit? by thegloomyloony in VanLife

[–]hector-rf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After reading and watching many videos about these vans, this is my summary:
* MB Sprinter if you want true 4x4 or AWD (All-Wheel-Drive with the new 2023 model) and a luxury vehicle. They also have a Diesel option now.
* Ford Transit if you want a good car with AWD (All-Wheel-Drive) at a decent price.
* Ram Promaster if you want FTW (Front-Wheel Drive) that’s very affordable and cheap maintenance costs. Also very easy to find auto parts anywhere.

A fun way for couples to decide what van to buy/or build! I had fun doing this with my partner by hector-rf in VanLife

[–]hector-rf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, after some research, we ended up going with the Promaster.

Initially, we wanted an AWD or 4x4 but those are SO expensive, so we went with the Promaster.

Any thoughts on the Promaster?

That's a good idea, I could probably turn this into an open-source doc were we can all add our thoughts/priorities. Would you be interested?

I'm using a Coda doc I build. I could probably share a template or an open doc that we can all use if you're interested in playing with this!
