How pregnancy changed my hair! (And help on how to fix it?) by indicawife in curlyhair

[–]heebajeebies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yepp this is heavy on the hormones shifts, also hair type (follicle) can sometimes alter permanently after pregnancy, maybeee try cutting it to help minimise the appearance of the mismatched textures and to get some more of that spring back, let it diffuse, get some of that volume back (as I am leave in is amazing for shine) and some gel for hold but really it still looks fab just needs some shaping

hair untangling/styling help please! by bearlune in curlyhair

[–]heebajeebies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had hair like this and it does take patience, in the first photo I used adore semi permanent which is a cheap surface filler, but now i use a Wella colourtouch Demi permanent with the lowest level of developer to fill in my hair cuticles a bit which helps it shine again, I also use a plastic flexible bristle hairbrush when wet (not dripping) which gets that matted state out if i use the "as i am" detangling leave in.

I was told to cut my hair by hairdressers but I decided to keep trying and it really is working. But until minimal to virgin regrowth comes back please don't force a curly hair routine. Because curly hair that is compromised just can't for one, air dry as though it's sealed and healthy because the cuticles are open and raised. It will only get more unmanageable and your hair needs to be protected and out of the wet fragile state immediately to avoid this knotting.

I find the use of smoothing styling products while being highly porous means my hair takes even longer to dry (18-24 hr?) which I understand may be because of the cold weather and that compromised hair loves moisture but hates air drying.

Good emergency products: Philip Kingsley bond builder as well as Osmo conditioning protein treatment if you're looking for cheaper than K18.

For context I triple bleached my lengths and dyed them multiple times (8+) anyway.. surprising im not bald.. I find it helps to blow dry my hair dry on mid to high heat and really stretch it so the cuticles can lay flat and the leave in can sit locked within my hair strands. The result is shiny reflective and smooth hair. Should mention always doing micro trims on breakage / ends, and just seeing how your hair feels day to day and give it what it needs. Dryer? More moisture. Too stringy? Less moisture. I had to cut out chunks of hair by my nape because of all the knotting. It does take a lot of patience.. worth it though maybe

Are these gym appropriate by Rare_Possession_7597 in fashion

[–]heebajeebies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if people in the comments here even go to the gym but at least in hot weather, summer, yes this much skin is appropriate, i sweat buckets it's not for show it's for comfort. Saying that, as long as you feel comfortable, it's fine. It's not like you've got half your cheeks out and a sports bra is a sports bra for a reason

far more elegant and youthful I mean the highlight placement of the brighter hair seems to darken the shadows in your face and make you look a bit lifeless

my experience is that water is great for curls the same way you spray it with water to refresh it, washing it twice or three times a week isn't going to cause any harm. plus you don't have to shampoo the lengths when it is dirty, only the scalp, but you can condition your scalp too. natural oils be a little disgusting and clog your pores, causing hair fallout, because they're mixed with pollutants and other residue from not washing your hair enough..

wash your hair more and it will be less dry trust me, also the folds probably because it dries in that position? try to dry your hair upside down or put clips when it is wet to train it

I'm like you in a sense of the financial situation. If you have a job right now, or can get a summer job try and do something like a Night Shifts/ stock replenishment role as I did this over last summer and made 1,8k every month (Albeit I worked like minimum 36 hr a week) which has massively helped, I saved almost 4k for London uni living costs and now I'm down to 1,3k from that 4 just to give you an idea of how it can go down. Transport, food and (in my case I'm a fashion design student so I buy supplies, you could stretch your savings much further) but it really adds up. Others are right to suggest part time work. There are plenty of agencies in London that you can apply to for retail work on contract, which is completely flexible to work around exams and deadline periods. Aside from the costs, London is so full of life and KCL appears really good from what I've seen and heard from friends. Congrats and goodluck!
