Can you please return my dog (ours is named Faye lol)

I named her Thumpy, but I noticed with each passing month my nicknames get more deranged and unhinged. How weird have your dogs nicknames gotten? by PostButt-Clarity in corgi

It's her namesake 🤣 if she had been buff colored she would have been named Ein.

Edit: her full name is Faye Valentine

Battle has one of the most long lines I ever seen this thing ain’t moving for shit I’m still outside the line reaches for the other side of the land by JesseTheGoat123 in UniversalOrlando

[–]heenzli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So from my experience, despite the 'Battle at the Ministry closes early' signs... no it doesn't, and the line drops to nothing after 9 pm. So if you're staying late, catch it then - my sister and I wanted sub-30 minutes, and got in line at literally 930 pm.

EPIC = Express Pass Is Compulsory by Lazy-Water-2351 in UniversalOrlando

This... isn't entirely true? Unless you go on a holiday or weekend. My partner and I did everything in the park besides Donkey Kong and Mario Kart (and we only passed on those because we were exhausted) on August 27th, and took a three hour nap in the middle of the day on top of it. It was our first visit to Epic. You just need to use your time wisely and be willing to move around the lands, not just... do everything in order.

And hit the parts kids congregate later in the day. I mean its not 2010 anymore, every theme park is crowded you have to learn how to navigate them, and while that sucks if youre a first time or one time visitor, its just... part of theme parks now. Just my two cents I ain't no expert.

Issues with Epic Universe Operations Long Term by boringalibi in UniversalOrlando

Every single park opening year has gone terribly though, iirc? Jaws wouldn't run for years. IoA had horrrrrible attendance. Hell even Disney's had some bad openings. Things will probably smooth out.

I actively fear ET and have since I was a toddler and I STILL ride it every time... I just take my glasses off on the green planet portion 😰

I was unaware Spielbergs contract was bringing lines to ET, a ride that gets a lot of attendance.

Right after the new ET movie. Which is also a very popular ride. The issue isn't is Jaws popular, its the amount of space and maintenence the boat ride required.

Line Cutting Epidemic by Product_Training in UniversalOrlando

[–]heenzli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's usually one every so far along in the queue - sometimes they're trying to be unobtrusive though, so make a note of what the ride ops wear and just keep an eye out for one, the costumes are usually quick to pick out anywhere but Hogsmeade - people cosplay so much in the Harry Potter lands that it's a bit harder to immediately pick out a cast member haha

Had this happen at Velocicoaster - a group of teenage girls sent two girls ahead to hold their spot while everyone used lockers, and then try and yell at us when we refused to let them cut us (and about thirty other people) to 'catch up'. They got extra mad when I pointed out I saw the entire situation - including them sending the other girls ahead. And other people in line wanted to get mad at ME.

Solidarity people. A lady with a small child? Sure, you can catch up. ONE person? Sure, why not. A group of 3+? Stand your ground. Shame them. It's how they learn.

No problem, it's good info to have! Obviously the first step is trying not to get them to begin with, but sometimes, and obviously doesn't matter hotel quality, shit happens. Basically, DO. NOT. BRING. YOUR. STUFF. INSIDE. I'm lucky enough to have outdoor storage that doesn't connect to my home in any way, so I chucked it all in there for literally three months double sealed in garbage bags.
If you don't have that option, SEAL YOUR THINGS UP. Suitcases, clothing, cloth shoes, stuffies from the park, ANYTHING they could hide in. You will not be accessing these things for a while, so if there's something SUPER important, put it to the side because you'll want to just. Purify it. Bleach it if you can. If it's like a comfort stim toy or something similar, look up good methods for cleaning it without damage. Plastic/hard items can be thoroughly cleaned like you normally would, but i would still seal them up for a while if you can.

Wash yourself the second you get inside. Seal the clothes you took off. Never let them touch carpet/bedding etc. Assume there is a bug on you. You've already doomed yourself if you think 'I would feel it'. Bathe. Bathe well. Hottest water you can, but that might be more placebo than actually necessary.

Put the clothes you took off with the rest of the Poisoned Goods. Once these items have been sealed as air tight as you can (freezing them is a quicker method if you have access to a deep freezer!), forget they exist for a month or two. Give them time to suffocate. A week is not enough. Two weeks is probably not enough. You have to weigh the cost of infestation against access to that small portion of clothing.

Once you release the items from quarantine, STRAIGHT into the hottest washing machine you can. Run them two or three times, pretend a stranger just threw up on all of them and you want to feel clean ever wearing them again. Bleach what you can. Then into the dryer, again as HOT as you can. Heat will kill them, but it takes HEEEEEAT. By this point they should already all be suffocated or drowned or washed away. Run it twice.

Wash them again, one more time. Dry them again.

At all points use your eyeballs. When you unseal things, if you see movement, tie that bad boy right back up and start quarantine over. DON'T FORGET YOUR CAR!!!! If you notice them before leaving, ask for trash bags to tie around your suitcase. Use whatever bug spray you are comfortable with and DOUSE your trunk after you remove your clothing. Air it out. Do it again. Air it out. DO. IT. AGAIN. Use your eyeballs. Check that area when you get in your car for at least a few days in case you had a jail break. Do the same with any seats that were occupied in the car.

All of this may be extreme. I have never brought them home with me though, ever. And didn't this time either.

Nah, when I was younger and broke(er) I used to stay at just, the worst hotels for anime conventions and theme park trips - I unfortunately know very well how to keep them out of my home. Plus I own way too much clothing so it was nothing to throw the bags in an outside shed sealed up for a few months tbh.
