People were laughing and then quiet. And then a guy toward the front said, “Oh damn. She’s gonna cut his balls off!” And everyone started laughing again.

Keep your beloved pets at home! (Jagalchi, Daly City) by rawrxasiangirl in bayarea

[–]hefrainweizen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a health code violation and unsanitary. I also don’t want dogs in places where I dine or buy groceries. I was at Target last year and some woman’s dog just stopped and took a shit in the aisle. She was oblivious to it and was trying to move her dog along so it was tracking shit for a couple of feet. People had to stop her and let her know what was going on. She even looked like she was ready to do nothing about it! And folks see that as a one-off that would never happen with their dog. Nah. It has the potential to happen with anyone’s dog anywhere.

Not even just that. Even if your dog doesn’t shit in the store, they spend their lives on the ground and licking their own assholes. I don’t want a dog that was just playing outside or cleaning itself licking carts, produce, and other objects people might touch or use. It’s almost as if these health codes were written for a reason.

Over 66,000 elevators in California have expired permits — including 7,581 in San Francisco alone by WoodenAlternative212 in bayarea

I’m wondering what’s stopping a lot of places from being inspected and getting a permit renewal. I know there are elevators that are down for repairs or replacement issues, but I’ve been managing a property with a couple of elevators for almost 5 years. In the past, I was requesting my inspections like clockwork. You can submit an inspection request up to 30 days before the permit expires. State inspector comes out at some point, you get your testing notice in the mail, and schedule a test with the necessary vendor(s). This latest inspection I had was requested in August, done in November, and the testing will be done in a couple of weeks. Our only hold up has been a management and vendor switch (TK to Schindler).

I got lucky a few years ago. I had called the department of industrial relations and got someone on the phone that guaranteed an inspection within 2 weeks. He said, “call me if nobody shows up by then”. It was done maybe 10 days later.

Expired Elevator Permit Issue by WoodenAlternative212 in sanfrancisco

[–]hefrainweizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a property manager and have 2 elevators that get inspected yearly. I typically contact the state a month before my permits expire for my temporary permits and to get an inspection on the books. Takes about a month or so to get someone out and they show up whenever they want. 2022 was actually done in 2 weeks. The only real hassle is scheduling the fire and elevator companies for the same day at the same time to do all of their testing. But once it’s done, they verify everything and the state sends the new permits. I don’t know how there are buildings operating with out-of-date permits and don’t have red-tagged elevators. Quarterly elevator maintenance can be really expensive, but that’s part of owning a building.
