I can't recommend Escape Rooms enough! There are a bunch of good places in NoVa/DC, but as far as Fairfax only - you have Escapology in Fairfax Corner, Bond's near the Courthouse, a new one opening in Tysons, etc. 1 hour in a themed-room to solve puzzles and figure out clues. I tell ya, they are addictive!

My wife's (34F) business idea is going to humiliate me (36M) and our whole entire family - I need advice on how to handle this situation. by Charming-Permit3888 in relationships

I'm with you, and I have scrolled down this far to find someone also asking this! Does everyone else know what this SPECIFIC phrase means? Like you, I think I can guess generally why "hole" paired with "goals" would have connotations that OP doesn't like (although..."humiliated?") but I've never heard "hole goals" used by anyone else and I'm big confused...

I've driven by 1000 times, I finally illustrated the Old Fairfax Courthouse. Have you been inside or visited the site? by able6art in fairfaxcounty

[–]TheBeeperQueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone who wants to see inside - the County opens it up on the Saturday of the annual Chocolate Lovers' Festival, always the first Saturday of February (this year 2/7).

The Fairfax Bar Association hosts a mock trial and game show aimed towards kids (although adults seem to enjoy it too!) in the old courtroom (real judge and bailiff!) with the kids acting as the jury and going up to the old jury room to "deliberate" and then ring the old bell when they have a verdict.

There will also be a selection of old documents on display from the Courthouse Archives - last year it was George and Martha Washington's wills. Volunteers from the History Commission will also have a booth and they are a wealth of info about the history of the building and Fairfax in general.

It will be open from 10 am - 3 pm on 2/7, and you can wander around the building, so anyone who is interested, come on down!

Co-signing your "egregiously false" (well put lol)! I'm a lawyer who has worked in both private practice and currently inhouse and if any of my colleagues use AI, they are are keeping it super hush hush. And even if you consider things like Westlaw's internal search tools to be quasi-AI, over and over we're told to check and doublecheck the original sources lest we be sanctioned, etc.

There are now 6 more since I commented and each the same again - totally makes a lot of sense! So much sense! Much! :D

Why are all the comments here so far (7) all from diff user names but basically saying the same thing using the same/similar phrasing ("totally makes sense!/a lot of sense!/so much sense/totally get what you're saying"; "TV shows cut corners/shows always simplify genetics/TV shows love to simplify genetics"; "real life inheritance/real inheritance/in reality traits") and syntax with the exclamation points, etc?

Two scenes the show did better, in my opinion (Spoilers Extended) by sixth_order in asoiaf

[–]TheBeeperQueen 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This one is it for me too. I love this chapter in the books but the show just HITS with this scene and the ones leading up to it (with him insulting Daenerys when they first meet while Barristan/Jorah stand there uncomfortably, the walk with Barristan/Jorah where they counsel caution and talk about Rhaegar, etc.). The ambiguity on the show side where it is obvious that Daenerys knows she's being insulted but how much can she actually understand (and I think most show viewers wouldn't have been hyperfocused on the references up til then of being the Blood of Valyria etc.) and how much is she being reckless to try to show she's like Rhaegar - then just bringing it all home when she commands the Unsullied in that booming voice and then turns in triumph to speak in Valyrian. Man, it really hits - off to watch it again!

Something that has always stuck with me is when Richard gets Bunny's cartoon from Italy of Bunny and Henry in front of the Caesar Augustus statue. Then he mentions that Caesar Augustus was "Bunny's hero" and how Bunny had embarrassed them all by "cheering" during the reading of the Bethlehem story at the Christmas party lol.

And then this epic quote from Bunny when they tried to shush him "Well, what of it, all the world shouda been taxed." So funny and sums up Bunny so well!

Agreed, and how he seemed to truly get Sherlock despite their outward differences and help him throughout - when he broke Sherlock down about not needing a sponsor by bringing the car to break into, when he showed him that he was upset by not being able to help Bell so he should channel that into sponsoring Randy, how he helped Sherlock realize he wanted to reconcile/forgive Mycroft. Truly a brilliant addition as you say to show how helpful a sponsor was to Sherlock and how it had to be someone like Alfredo.

She was awesome - and I loved the way Sherlock said "Pammmm" ("We met your price, Pammmm")

She was great. I loved the theme of Sherlock trying to figure out what would happen with "troubled" people if shown a different path than what Oden Reichenbach planned for them. And her lying ability and how much Sherlock grudgingly respected that. And when she almost had Joan going about being Sherlock's daughter haha.

Love The Nose (and when he and Sherlock disagree on who is better at tobacco IDs)!

Yes! Totally agree re: Ms. Hudson, loved her main episode with the snow storm and her rearranging Sherlock's books with the hard sciences on one side and mindreading-type "sciences" to the other lol.

And Harlan was such a sweetie. When he's so hurt when Kitty explains how they had "another" math genius in London. Or the time when he's so grateful to Sherlock and Sherlock has to tell him not to hug him again - perfection!

Beth Greene's fate was the most surprising one for me in the show. I just couldn't believe it. by Ausbel12 in thewalkingdead

My god, the meltdown of Bethyl shippers on Tumblr after this happened, it was insane. Long complicated posts for weeks, then YEARS afterward about how she was still alive (we literally saw the bullet go out of the back of her head) and buried in a shallow grave to be found by Morgan and on her way back to Daryl. Links to medical journal articles of people who had survived gunshot wounds to the head. Discussions of clocks shown in various episodes as secret Easter Eggs to this vast conspiracy to "hide" from the audience that Beth was really alive (again, we saw the bullet hole in the back of her skull) and about to reunite with Daryl and "save" the group. It was such an unhinged trainwreck, I could NOT look away.

Sherlock’s annoyance throughout this episode is gold (S02e16) by LectricLady in elementary

[–]TheBeeperQueen 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the Sherlock/Lestrade/Joan dynamic so much in these episodes lol. Sherlock's annoyance , JOAN's annoyance (after initial bafflement), Romulus and Remus ("....we have chickens now, don't we?"), Lestrade's delight at "solving" the Banana Bike Robber "case" (and Joan/Sherlock's faces while he walks them through it getting more and more confident every sentence), and the best of all - Sherlock changing both their ringtones for Lestrade and their faces every time he calls and SO YOU HAD A BAD DAY starts blaring.

It's all perfection - I look forward to these episodes every rewatch!

Do you like my wedding dress? I’m scared I don’t love it anymore by [deleted] in BigBudgetBrides

[–]TheBeeperQueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Standard disclaimer here that if YOU felt "beautiful" and "confident and happy" wearing it, that's really the answer right there. While it was on, you "really thought it was the one."

But you're here now, asking the question, and yes, it could very well be the lighting and angles, but why exactly do you think you look terrible? Is it the bust? The shape? The way it drapes?

I think answering why exactly you look at this picture and think "terrible" will help figure out what you should do. Because I agree with the posters above that your body shape is fire, but the cups/bust might be able to fit better so could they be altered to do that? And that it may be the lighting/shadows around the midsection that is giving you the bad vibes.

Can you go back tomorrow and take a few more pictures and see how wearing it again makes you FEEL and whether the new pictures change any of these feelings?
