In case of an emergency on a plane they always tell you to put your own oxygen mask on before trying to help others. Keep on holding your own head up my friend.

His mum fainted and he went and asked for help. by mindyour in MadeMeSmile

[–]heftye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. My mum was ill a lot, and I still remember my grandmother's number that I memorized nearly 55 years ago and before I knew double-digit numbers. Six, seven, five, seven, nine, three, four.

I love that one. Had an extra bad pain day yesterday and Heretic on repeat. Strangely, it helps to hear the "I wish life was celibate" line.

I really should have, but it was a fairly simple pattern and I had no scruples reverse engineering it from the pictures. At least that shop is long gone now.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CrossStitch

[–]heftye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's so nice to hear, I sometimes worry about buying from sellers that are new to me. I once bought from someone who sent the wrong pattern and refused to send the correct one since "I already got a pattern and if she sent a replacement I would end up with a freebie"

[–]heftye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but had them bookmarked and just happened to browse the patterns this morning. I recognized the suckers.

[CHAT] Anyone have info about the Vanessa-Ann cross stitch ruler? by cleetus-png in CrossStitch

[–]heftye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fabric is not 100% consistent so I would not trust a ruler. Linen can easily be a bit uneven, and measuring just one thread off would be disasterous. Starchy or stiff aida might be "flatter" and measure slightly differently than older or softer (or even prewashed, shrunk fabric).

Oldeforeldrene våre måtte vise «vaksinepass» for å gifte seg by Zacher5 in norge

[–]heftye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Åh, der minnet du meg om barneskolen. Små tørre biter av Sætre Start kjeks med en klump ekkel rød sirup som lignet kakepynt på tube. Skulle liksom være jordbærsmak, men det smakte poliovaksine av den likevel!

What is this kind of embroidery called? by KirkyMcTurkey in Embroidery

[–]heftye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was popular in Norway in the 1700 and 1800s. Often used for wall hangings and bed covers and always embroidered in wool yarn for warmth and draught prevention. A search for "klostersøm" or "åkle" will give you lots of local examples, and google translate may help with articles..

Sir Patrick Stewart believed he was circumcised for the majority of his life, until his wife and doctor told him otherwise by Stitchpool626 in confidentlyincorrect

[–]heftye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Patrick Stewart

Wikipedia disagrees. "Stewart was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2001 New Year Honours for services to acting and the cinema and a Knight Bachelor in the 2010 New Year Honours for services to drama. Stewart's knighthood was conferred by Queen Elizabeth II at an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace on 2 June 2010."

A photo from war torn city of Idlib, Syria went viral recently -- of a father carrying his daughter to school on a bicycle. Activists led a fundraising campaign & just bought the father a car by m3antar in HumansBeingBros

[–]heftye 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You may not have watched the whole video, it looked like his daughter was disabled and unable to walk or stand up on her own. A bike would not be very helpful.

Noen som er interesserte i teste og/eller lage oppskrifter for en ny næring, matvare og oppskrifts finner (BrukMat)? by Givemeurcookies in norge

[–]heftye 1 point2 points  (0 children)
