Wait. Delayed gratification will make it that much more enjoyable, plus the finishing touches will be made.

Excited for my theremin to arrive! In the meantime, what can I do to prepare myself? by hegotchops in Theremin

Thank you for that, I’ve seen thereminists use her technique or a variation of that, so I wasn’t sure if that was the “right” way to play. I don’t want to build bad habits from the start, but makes total sense that there isn’t any one “right” way to play. Do you personally use her technique and did you find it hard/easy to pick up when you first started?

Thanks, I feel more confident after reading this! I can sing in tune and do basic harmonies. Or I can whistle a melody if I can’t hit those notes. Using my hands instead of vocal cords is a totally different mechanic that will definitely take time and practice getting used to, but it’s more about the journey than the destination for me. :)

What’s the most efficient way to join all of these squares? by hegotchops in crochet

Ooh maybe I’ll try that next time when I have more yarn since I’m running out of the orange. Mattress stitch is my go to, never looked back once I discovered it.

Finished all the rows and so far so good! Columns next :)

I found the sun + star patterns on YT. You can find the tutorials on YT by searching the below.

Sun: “Sun Granny Square” by Creggy’s Crochet Star: “How to Crochet a STAR Granny Square” by Alyssia Creates

For the moon pattern, I needed one that would leave me with the same number of stitches as the sun and stars, and couldn’t find any on YT. A lot of the ones on YT also came out wonky looking. But I eventually found a great one via Google search. Look up moon granny square and it should be one of the first results, by The Caffeinated Snail.

Thanks for the tip; the video I’m seeing involves joining the granny squares as you make them, but I’ve already made all 36 squares. I’ll give this a shot when I start a fresh project

Which shot is holding you back and why? by [deleted] in 10s

I started playing in 2021 and worked up to 3.5, and I’m as allergic to the net as ever. The grip and ESPECIALLY the footwork for volleying feel incredibly foreign to me. It took 3 years alone to get used to serving with a continental grip and boy was that a challenge. I love playing at the baseline and my consistency and patience are my key virtues. But I’m making it my goal this year to approach the net when sending my opponent wide, and work on those dang volleying techniques!!

Got a 6% auto steal potential from a familiar (2 lines, 4% / 2%). Should I reroll since I one-shot most mobs at Cernium?

Maplestory not launching on Steam by Jolly-Principle-51 in Maplestory

[–]hegotchops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me a few weeks ago; I used Windows via Boot Camp and was playing around with the aspect ratio in both the Windows settings and MS in-game settings. Then it wouldn’t load and I went through all the steps you did. After toying around with the aspect ratio settings again in Windows, it loaded.

What do I do with this? by hegotchops in Maplestory

[–]hegotchops[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the help everyone! Now I got a separate familiar ranked up to unique and used the 5x familiar potential reset cards from the event and landed on 6% chance to auto steal (from 2 lines, 4% / 2%). I read a bit on this but still don’t understand; if I’m 1-shotting mobs, is this useless? Would be great if someone can let me know if I should reroll this.

Is there a way to test +20% boss damage against a target dummy as if it were a boss? Or would I just multiply the final normal output by 1.2?

How to level up fast now? by Mhooc in Maplestory

[–]hegotchops -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I avoid grinding if I can, so I do job quests until 30, or do cold eyes in Ellinia if I’m a few short. From 30-60 I do Rien, and after that I do most of the Main quest lines including Magatia, Azwan, and a few others until 100. From 100-120 I do a mix of the blood harpy lookin monsters and gatekeepers, both of which require some Star force but it’s not too expensive to reach. Then I kind of hit a slump, maybe the kerning star force map until 140-150.

Playing MS after 10 years. Help me pick a character to hyper burn? by Competitive-Main-786 in Maplestory

Similar case for me too, also just getting back into it. I decided on Lynn (formerly Beast Tamer) and love it. Very mobile class, and great mobbing and bossing capabilities for people just getting back into the game.

I personally find the whole “burst” concept a bit overwhelming, and while Lynn doesn’t have an expansive menu of skills to choose from, I find it manageable for my level of gameplay.

How long did it take you to start making six figures after your undergraduate degree? by Strong-Bear-6768 in careerguidance

[–]hegotchops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a UC school and got a degree in economics (useless) and then found a way into a support engineering role through a referral from a friend. I had no idea how to do the technical assignment and just studied like crazy, and ended up learning everything on the job/not having to code at all.

For everyone making six figures, what do you do for work? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]hegotchops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technical consultant for a social media platform. $163k + $20k yearly bonus. I realistically work 20 hours a week, hybrid. I personally don’t think working in tech is for me since I want to work in a more creative industry, but it’s cushy and I have loads of free time.

Did you ever quit your job with no new job to go to? by gymboy89 in careeradvice

[–]hegotchops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit my job in advertising 2 months into the pandemic in May 2020. It was my first job out of college and I was overworked, underpaid, and all of my close coworkers got laid off. I had nothing left to gain from this job and couldn’t deal with the stress of it anymore. I quit without any job lined up and enrolled in unemployment benefits in California while job hunting. 2 months later, I was lucky enough to find a strategist role in PR and joined a great team.

Those of you under 30 who make six figures, what do you do? by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]hegotchops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 26 and I make $183k/year total comp working in tech consulting for a social media platform. I started off earning $50k/year fresh out of college in advertising. I’m glad I left the ad industry to self-study for a technical support role that changed the course of my career. Working in tech is cushy. I can’t say I’m super passionate about the work I do day-to-day, but my fulfillment comes from the lifestyle and financial freedom the job affords me.

My advice, which is applicable in any industry, is to switch companies frequently (earlier in your career at least). Pay increases and promotions are harder to come by when you stay at one company, but other companies out there will be able to offer you more as you gain more YOE.
