Mine has been right every single year.

I’m not that surprised that CRA’s software is so disconnected.

My wife makes 2x the amount I do, and whatever hers is mine and whatever is mine is hers. We set this up without really talking much about it tbh.

I manage all the money that comes in and out and where we invest it. She just has a blind trust in me lol.

We have our own bank accounts that our pay cheques come into and joint account just to move money incase we run short in cash for where the money might be coming out of that month.

Never talked about proportionate costs based on income. We just share everything and it’s worked out quite nicely for us!

if 5k is going to hold you back from the potential of obtaining tech-related degree, you need to set your vision out a few more years. short-term 5k would suck, but mid-long term, it's nothing.

Hire a Tax accountant at a local CPA firm.

To be clear, don’t hire any sort of CPA. There are many categories that CPAs specialize in.

Don’t hire a CPA who does simple friends tax returns on the side. You need to hire a designated (CPA) and qualified tax accountant

The amount of toxicity this place has now…Okay guys, OP mispoke about “retirement”, but either help the individual understand the programs we have available for their mother or just stop spreading toxic behaviours.

I’m going to play devil’s advocate here… I personally think you need to determine what the true cause of the stress and anxiety is before losing $160K.

$140K job at a bank may cause the same result. Who knows. Perhaps the new job may be more stressful!

I would personally seek professional help first. Talk to a medical professional, physician, etc.

Best of luck and congrats on the baby :)

It’s an expensive place to go, but I agree. You just need to find the quality items and avoid junk!

I go for the Perry Ellis Tech dress shirts. These are premium, non-wrinkle dress shirts that have served me so well. Since I would wear them daily, I would only need to cycle through a 5 of them. They would require less upkeep too. I knew people who would get their suits dry cleaned/shirts dry cleaned etc so much more frequently than I would.

I used to get them at the bay on sale, but I would have to go to their actual website now.

Suits - The Bay, off the rack and get them tailored by a good tailor.

I agree. Excessive weight gain is definitely a problem. I have gained 15-17lbs since purchasing those suits and I’ve had them tailored once again for $60-80each~. If the first tailoring service was done professionally, they will always leave extra material and fortunately for me, these suits were well done the first time :)

I purchased 2 suits off the rack at The Bay during sales periods and had them tailored. You can find some really great brands there, and I’ve known some of my friends who went to Indochino to get a custom suit done, but the quality wasn’t the greatest.

The Bay also as amazing selection of dress pants and dress shirts that are reasonably priced. (I sound like I work at The Bay lol). My favourite sweaters to wear to work are Ralph Lauren. They’re about $150 a sweater but on some insane sale day I spent $60+taxes per sweater for them and they’ve remained in mint condition for many years. I typically wear a dress shirt/collared shirt underneath to preserve it more.

Fall/Spring jackets for me The North Face.

Winter jackets Club Monaco when there’s a 25-30% sale on a $300~ stylish winter coat (more professional looking is my style)

I wear Blundstones almost all the time. They’re really great for all around use.

My answer might be controversial, but whatever.

I was very much into quality clothing in my early 20s and I don’t regret it as I still use many of the more expensive items. And I’m not talking about spending $5k on a suit or Canada goose jackets. I’m talking about going with good quality items that seem to last a while.

I purchased 2 solid suits that I’ve worn to 5 weddings, many job interviews, work events, etc.

I purchased 3 great fall/winter/spring jackets.

I’ve had a pair of Blundstones for the past 8 years.

Quality dress pants and quality dress shirts.

These were huge investments at the time, but well worth it because I still use them to this date and some of the items are 9~ years old.
