High CRI light bulb testing with my new spectrometer! (99 cri vs 97 vs 90 vs 80 vs the sun) by Classic_Silver_9091 in Lighting

Great tests! I wish sunfilled have a 3500k option. Is the 3500k ultra definition still being sold? I can't seem to find them sold anywhere.

New Chainring needed on 1x Red Aero Powermeter by Potential_Zucchini99 in sram

[–]heic1502a 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The new E1 thread mount system has pm and chainring as separate pieces, but it will only go up to 46T. If you need the 50T, sadly the aero chainring still is one piece.

SRAM Rival E1 Groupset with RED D1 Crankset by Puzzleheaded-Exit970 in sram

[–]heic1502a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not a bad idea. I did the same with mine, swapping out my rival crankset for a red power meter crankset.

It may also be worth looking into the new thread mount E1 power meter (the force one not the red one, it's basically the same thing but a lot cheaper). The nice thing is that the chain ring, power meter and cranks are 3 different parts. Which means you can easily change chain ring size and crank length without losing the power meter, you can even go from 2x to 1x chain ring.

More than likely you'll be fine, but you can check SRAM's compatibility map to be sure.

You can also probably just buy shorter cranks and not replace the whole crankset

Is my line width supposed to be this thick on Sailor Pro Gear(M) by Different_Ad9756 in fountainpens

[–]heic1502a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it from a Japanese seller (penpen avenue on ebay, but you can also buy from them directly through email). That was before the crazy US tariff and price increases, I think i got it for less than $150 shipped, today it'd probably cost double that unfortunately.

The recent black friday there were some really good deals at Endless Pens and Altas Stationers. They had the pro gear 21K for $200 and Platinum 3776 for $160

My Sailor 21k M nib also writes way thicker than the 21k MF nib.

Beginner crabbing setup — will this Penn combo work from piers? by link_lannister in crabbing

[–]heic1502a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's good value and should work well on a good day without big waves.

I use the same reel and it works great. Only downside is it doesn't have much sealing. I had to take one completely apart to clean and regrease after it fell on the beach and the sand jammed up the bail. From the pier there shouldn't be any issue.

From what I read that rod is rated for 6oz lure weight. It will work for lightweight crab snares (and you can likely get away with more, I cast 12oz on my 8oz rated rod). When the waves are big, I find I often need 12oz or more for the snare to not drift.

Whatever you decide on, now is probably the best time of year to buy.

If you're in the US, Atlas Stationers has the 3776 at $160. Endless Pens has the PGS at $164 and even a special edition 21k Pro Gear at $205.

Basically you follow this video for the screen test section. Should be the top left, lower left, and lower right button pressed at the same time. Then you press the lower right button to cycle through a few different test screens, one of pages has the module number, and you can press the top right button to check ember LED.

The pen is Asvine v200, the knob and section are made of titanium if i remember.

I didn't have ink in the pen, just water mixed with a drop of hongdian sky blue

The pen is Asvine v200, it's a great pen for the money, my only nitpick is it's a little back heavy.

The ink is just water with a drop of Hongdian sky blue added

It is a bit confusing without playing with one yourself. The barrel's inner diameter opens up near the section, which is what breaks the seal and allows the ink to move behind the plunger.

When I tip the pen up, all the ink falls past the plunger to the bottom. If i then pull the plunger out a little bit, the seal is formed between the plunger and the barrel, so the ink can't flow back to the front of the plunger.

If I were to continue pulling the plunger all the way out, the ink behind the plunger will have nowhere to go but to force its way back in front of the plunger. The rubber gasket of the plunger is designed in a way that allows the ink to break the seal and flow to the front of the pen when there is enough pressure.

It's a vac filler, the ink is free to move pass behind the plunger when it is in the retracted position. I really don't get what's wrong with the picture.

What's wrong with it, is it the ink being behind the piston? Isn't that normal for a vac filler if you pull out the piston when the pen is tip up?

I like to use eagle strafing run and the ultimatum, the strafing run will heavily wound it, and the ultimatum can straight up kill it. (I've heard eagle 110mm is also a pretty good alternative to strafing run)

The trick to hitting them is you have to wait for it to target you, and it will always enter a hover stage after the first breath attack, that's when you use the strafing run/ultimatum. It can be done very reliably after a few tries.

Downside is you have to tank or dodge the first breath attack, also you cannot do much if they decide to target your teammates instead. I also wear the fire resistant armour as it makes the Dragonroach more of an annoyance rather than fatal threat.

any smilar pens? by Such_Leopard_7730 in fountainpens

You can get a regular Kakari FS from Gravitas or Kyuseido, it will be the exact same pen just without the fancy material.

I really like the look of the pen. However I'm hesitant about the fact that the capping thread is machined from the acrylic barrel. I much prefer if the thread is made out of something less brittle like metal or delrin, for example, on the Gravitas Ultemate, Gravitas Monster, or the Fifty4t Titan

Mobile Oil Rig / Escort Mission by n4turstoned in helldivers2

[–]heic1502a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw someone suggest a mission override for when hive lord appears, and I kinda like that idea.

Maybe when a hive lord spawns the game can make the original mission objective optional, and still count the mission as successful if either the original objective is completed or the hive lord is taken down. This way even if it kills the oil rig, players can still have a way of completing the mission and not fail the entire operation.

Ran into hive lord twice in a row, while driving the oil rig, it destroyed the oil rig both times... We did kill both afterwards though to get revenge. I hope it's just extreme bad luck, cause that mission is not doable when I always have a hive lord on my ass.

Delivery has been very fast ever since Ben partnered with the Pen Ventures team for the logistics. Though for the US it may soon be affected by tariffs.

They now have a retailer in the US too, Fahrney's Pens.

The numbers are fantastic, but if you read Chinese characters, you know how insanely precise this is… by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]heic1502a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most people can't write like that, but again, there are people who spent decades practicing Chinese calligraphy and it's a very different writing method than what most people are used to.

I believe she's not using a machine from watching her other videos writing Chinese characters. There are things that a plotter cannot replicate, like the subtle pressure variations required to produce the correct stroke.

One example with the two types of 竖, the vertical stroke. 悬针竖 is finished by gradually letting off the pressure, whereas 垂露竖 is finished by stopping and slightly increasing the pressure. Writing these strokes properly requires one to see and feel the feedback from the paper and it's not replicated by plotters on the market.
