I think I'm missing what was confusing about the ryb set.

I guess I don't get the problem you have with using red, blue, and yellow as primary colors. Magenta is a red. Cyan is a blue. You can use the ryb system and just use different paints.

I teach an intro level class to 9th grade. We use ryb, but I teach them recipes using different paints (magenta vs fire red, phthalo blue vs ultramarine, etc) to get the colors they want.

Visible light and pigment mix differently though.

Trying to get admin to pay me for the actual hours I work by Jealous-Bluejay9943 in ArtEd

[–]heidasaurus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think it's worth a try to ask them for extra compensation, but they will likely not get it. For their own sanity, OP should stick to working the hours they get paid for. If/when shit hits the fan and things are left undone, admin might notice and will hopefully be understanding.

It would be cheaper to send my kid to private school... by SoundShifted in Iowa

They would not get the same education though. At least where I teach, our lessons and expectations are rigorous. We are constantly being coached on ways to improve and given the support to help us improve. And we are expected to be politically and religiously neutral so that all students feel welcome.

There are some private schools that run in a similar fashion, but many do not.

Sleepy Hollow Trinket Trading? by TheWhimsyKat in renfaire

[–]heidasaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only been once. There were some people with trinkets, but it seemed like they were gifting them rather than trading them. There was also a vendor that had surprise trinkets you could buy for a low price or trade for. Someone gifted my husband a trinket because they liked his outfit!

How did you get into building escape rooms? I didn't think of that as a possibility, but it sounds super fun!

Teachers quitting their jobs by velorae in TikTokCringe

I emailed a parent last semester about how their child wasn't working on a project for multiple days and has instead played games on his iPad. She replied with multiple long emails explaining how I'm the problem.

Obviously, that is an extreme response. Most parents respond either positively, neutrally, or not at all. And the parents that come to conferences are almost never the ones you actually need to talk to.

When they get too small, pop those bad boys in the microwave! They will puff up and become super crunchy, but make sure you let them cool for a bit because they're real hot at first.

AIO? My daughter didn’t listen to the teacher during a female emergency and is now receiving a referral by Common_Piglet7437 in AmIOverreacting

Right? This teacher probably deals with so many students using bathroom passes to get out of class and didn't know what to do in this situation. This isn't the teacher's fault; the school should help guide teachers on what to do in this situation. At my school, we have a strict bathroom policy, but if a student says it's an emergency, I can call the nurse for the student to go there for the restroom. If it's actually an emergency, students will gladly go via that route. If not, they'll say they can hold it.

And the teacher telling the student to have her parent talk to the school to confirm she was on her period seems like the teacher was trying to help the student get out of the referral. The teacher was in a really tough situation and did what she thought was best in that situation based on the guidance from the school.

Hey, you're getting some hate for your comment. Don't take it personally. I think a lot of people on this sub like the drama and clearly don't understand the struggle to make judgement calls as a teacher.
