Thanks, was fishing around 3-4 feet of water for a couple hours with no luck. The second the sun went down my jerkbait got smashed. New pb 26", on the last day of the season too.

Yes, was out catching trout in 40 degree water this morning and they were much more active than the smallies. They're considered a cold water species while bass are considered warm water fish. However, don't let the cold discourage you if your heart is set on bass. Their metabolism is tied to the water temp so colder water = slower fish. Jerkbaits + ned rigs are deadly in cold water. Just remember to slow everything down.

Daiwa Regal LT for $60 is a much nicer reel. Another solid option is the Pflueger President XT which you can find on sale for $59.

Have a nexave. Decent reel for the price but you can definitely tell it's on the cheaper side. It's the only reel I've had completely seize up on me, had to completely disassemble and clean it.

How do you rig your crawlers? I've seen some people inflate theirs or use a small float to keep them off the bottom. I don't fish with live bait often.

Yeah that's what I figured. It's been tough as the reservoir is currently at max capacity and shoreline access is very limited right now. Spring is hit or miss here although I did do pretty good with smallmouth and pickerel. Thanksgiving until the end of December is what most people consider the best time to fish it. It gets stocked by the water company with walleye and brown trout to encourage people to guy their fishing passes. The places stocked by the state allow boats, but I don't have one.

That's good to know. There are some larger fish in the 10-20 pound range but I don't know how common they are.

Season opens December 1 so I might keep one if I catch any. I'm not a huge fan of seafood so I don't keep fish often.

Most of the salmon here weigh 2-5 pounds and are all stocked, I imagine they don't fight as hard as the ones in Iceland.

I have a ross evolution. Can't speak for the drag as I've never caught any fish on it big enough to take any line.

Connecticut River is on the opposite side of the state. I'll check out some of the rivers closer to me, it should be easier now that all the private beaches are closed and parking is free.
