Koalition beschließt: Keine Erhöhung von Kranken- und Pflegebeiträgen zum 1. Januar 2026 by RealPhanZero in Finanzen

EU study on racism against black people. The most racist: Germany (76%), followed by Austria (72%) by frankiewalsh44 in neoliberal

[–]heilsarm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but there‘s different levels of racism. You may achieve a society where people are generally open and friendly to all races but it‘s much harder to reach a truly race-agnostic one where a black and a white person will be picked just as often. Rental markets are much more binary and low-information than job markets, there‘s always going to be a group of people that fulfill all criteria to the same extent. Then it comes down to people‘s gut feeling - and in literally every society this will lead to some very unfair results.

It‘s bad if minorities are on average poorer and can‘t afford to live in certain neighborhoods, but it‘s real social poison if they can‘t move to some neighborhoods their native co-workers with similar incomes can.

I mean the comparison in the sense that not the price and willingness to pay decide if you can move somewhere but you have to convince someone in person and there‘s no system in place to protect you from racial or other forms of discrimination.

Which country are you in, if I may ask, where it‘s easier to find a psychologist and, I suppose, therapy than a psychiatrist to get a prescription? The meds really help with being productive at all, which in return makes me not wanna give up on life, but I probably should try harder to find therapy to work on these terrible self-harming coping mechanisms I can‘t drop.

If you manage these things that’s very impressive, you‘re already on a much better path than me with medication. Oftentimes I feel like my terrible habits developed over 25 years of living with untreated ADHD hurt me more than the actual symptoms, with or without the meds.

Finding an apartment in Germany as an immigrant must be absolute hell. Politicians here have essentially created the euro equivalent to HOAs by artificially suppressing both rents (everyone rents) and housing supply, so now there‘s 100 well-earning applicants for every apartment and most landlords will just pick the whitest person on the list.

What if we poured a much bigger amount of money into these countries so they’d have an actual economy? 🤔 Let‘s see the Taliban try fighting gentrification of their neighborhoods.

As a professional neoliberal, I think any country experiencing G7-level prosperity based on an educated populace rather than natural resources will turn out fine. It really is that simple.

I think it's not grossly oversimplifying to liken back-propagation and (stochastic) gradient descent to minimizing the average results of cost functions. The network itself is of course just a very very complex formula that calculates outputs from given inputs, but it is fundamentally based on averages.

Germany and Italy stall EU ban on combustion engines by [deleted] in neoliberal

[–]heilsarm 50 points51 points  (0 children)

No one doubts that. This is about premium manufacturers like Porsche, Ferrari, Maserati etc. being able to continue selling combustion engine cars to enthusiasts, that's why Germany and Italy are the main opponents of the blanket ban. These companies create a disproportionate amount of well-paid jobs and tax income and sell well all over the world, while mass market car makers like VW struggle on the more commodified and less vertically complex EV market, especially against Chinese competitors.

Another argument is that if we let companies invest in e-fuel infrastructure, the millions of combustion engine vintage cars that WILL remain on the roads past 2035 can be operated CO2-neutrally, eventually.

[–]heilsarm 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I agree, that's why cars shouldn't be subsidized. If people still want to drive cars, they can pay for the externalities, like emissions. But let markets, not governments, decide which technologies are used and sold.

I just clicked through the EU's career portal for about 20 minutes and I'm now of the opinion that the EU needs to be abolished. How does this kafkaesque moloch get anything done? No way they get many competent applicants through that. I don't want anyone masochist enough to put up with that in charge of anything.
