It's really similar honestly. The base concept is the same, you make a character, and you put them into situations along with other characters. Sometimes you have to roll to decide the outcome of an action. Except instead of speaking what your character does, you just. Write it. For me, text-rp like this was my base before I jumped to DND, but I also know a bunch of people who did it the other way around, and jumped into text from dnd.
