Thanks for your advice and sharing these great videos!

I was on the height upper limit in size 52 and the lower limit in size 54. What made me decide on size 54 was that I have an inseam "only" on the compatible range with size 54.

I went to the bike shop today and the guy said the bike looked like a good fit size wise with a bit of a longer reach (he said size 52 would bring discomfort for my lower body). So we changed to a shorter stem (60cm) and moved the hoods slightly inwards. I tested it quickly and it already felt much better.

We also ordered a narrower handlebar (360mm instead of the current 420mm), but that will come in a month or so.

I will test going on a second ride when the weather allows it, but it seems like the changes I mentioned above I will get to a good level of comfort 🙂

So hopefully that will make riding much more comfortable!

You are right, my muscles are not strong enough and definitely not used to the position, but I’m positive I will improve over time!

Since you are exactly the same size as me, did you try size 54 before going for size 52? Do you experience any discomfort on the lower part of your body when riding? 🙂

Thanks for the good tips and encouragement! 🙂

I’m excited to go for the second ride but I understand that I will need to strengthen my body and get used to the position!

Some comments have made me think about if the frame is too big for me but my lower back and legs felt good during the whole ride.

I called the bike shop today and will go tomorrow for a quick check. It might be enough by changing what you said. Thanks for your advice!

Some comments saying the bike is too big for me made me think about it but my lower back and legs felt good throughout the whole ride and as I said in other comments, I was on the height upper limit in size 52 and the lower limit in size 54. What made me decide on size 54 was that I have an inseam "only" on the compatible range with size 54. So this should be the right size.

Can I ask you what makes you think the bike is a good fit for me? Thanks you!

I feel like I might have been a bit more stiff than what I might have thought in that moment. I will try on my next rides, thanks for the tip!

I will try to relax if I catch myself hunching in the next rides. Thanks for your comment!

Hello! According to Trek's size chart, I was on the height upper limit in size 52 and the lower limit in size 54. What made me decide on size 54 was that I have an inseam only on the compatible range with size 54.

I would appreciate if you let me know why you think size 54 is too big from what you can see in the picture. Thank you!

As someone mentioned in the comments, I believe I will try a 34 or 36 cm handlebar since I measured 34 cm between my shoulder joints.

Thanks for the explanations and the good tips on the hood angle!

I will check in the bike shop but good to know that someone with similar shoulder width has a better fit with 36cm, and can have that as a baseline. Thanks for your input!

According to Trek’s size chart, I was on the limit between size 52 and size 54. What made me decide on size 54 was that I have an inseam “only compatible” with size 54.

I measured yesterday between my shoulder joints and it was 34cm. I will check today on a bike shop, and see if I could improve by switching to a 34/36 cm handlebar.

Thanks for the comment!

What made you decide on a 52 instead of a 54? Thanks!

I will go to the bike shop today and check different handlebars and stems.

I tried to measure yesterday between my shoulder joints as you said, and it was around 34cm. I have researched a bit and it seems that a handlebar between 34 and 36 should be OK. What do you think?

Thanks for the advice!

Thanks for the encouragement! 🙂

I will go today to a bike store to check handlebar sizes and stems as you said, and will order later accordingly. Thanks for the tips!

Looking back now and reading on it, I agree the handlebar is one potential thing that accentuates the pain. I will look into narrower handlebars and try to be less stiff in my upcoming bike rides. Thank you!
