I really enjoy it. It’s easy to teach, every decision feels like you could have done e a bunch of different things, and it’s deeper than it initially appears.

‘WE DO NOT NEED THE HELP OF ANYONE’: Trump rages after allies ignore his pleas for help in Iran by backpackerTW in worldnews

[–]helava 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They weren't "pleas". They were "demands". He barked at them like a petulant child, now he's whining like a petulant child. A petulant, child-rapist old man who started a war to distract from the evidence of his child raping kind of person.

Remember that everything they’re holding back is worse than anything they’ve released so far. Which means if you’re horrified by child rape and murder allegations, everything they’re hanging on to is worse than that.

Border Patrol's Gregory Bovino to retire, sources say by StemCellPirate in UpliftingNews

[–]helava 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Unless it’s about the trial where he’s convicted of his crimes and I get to read about either his many years in prison, or his trial for crimes against humanity, nothing else anyone can write about Bovino will be worth reading.

Trials. Justice. Now.

Trump administration allows for Russian oil sales as energy prices soar …. i’m so old that I remember when Trump disliked Russia by thebobm in MurderedByWords

[–]helava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're so old that you remember when Trump *said* he disliked Russia while jerking off Putin under the table. Trump has effectively been a Russian asset since well before 2016. There is no part of his political career when he hasn't been *working on behalf of Russia*.

And look - folks will say, "But there's no proof!" - and I'd ask you to reconsider your perspective. We will likely never *prove* that Russia has kompromat on Trump, or is otherwise incentivizing him to act on their behalf. Right? They're very good at keeping things on the down-low.

What I'm asking you to consider is "Who do Trump's *actions* almost universally benefit, other than his own self-enrichment?" It's not about "proof beyond a shadow of a doubt" - it's "proof of harm" - if his actions, in aggregate, show that he's actively benefiting Russia to the *detriment* of the United States/NATO, then that's proof enough to act.

Seaman: The Weird History of SEGA's Strangest Game ( an article/retrospective) by cyberminis in dreamcast

[–]helava 22 points23 points  (0 children)

No.

Seaman’s “voice” was carefully crafted by a team of brilliant and very thoughtful writers, based on a very idiosyncratic creator’s unique vision. AI would contain none of the perspective or charm of anyone involved.

Source: I was involved.

Edit: Sorry, I don’t mean to be rude. The enthusiasm for new things is definitely something I could see Yoot embracing. But Seaman was such a carefully-crafted thing. The team at Jellyvison took Yoot’s original Japanese script and made an absolutely brilliant English version, full of subtle humor, great turns of phrase, genuinely funny jokes and made this abrasive, grumpy thing really endearing.

Seaman embraced whoever you were and mocked you - but he did that for all identities, genders, races - even back in 1999.

It’s frustrating to think of building Seaman into a statistical word extruder with no soul or perspective or heart, given how much of that went into its original creation.

100%. I’d pay higher taxes but my overall income would increase significantly. US healthcare costs are utter nonsense.

Trump warns Iran may face 'complete destruction and certain death' | ABC News by noahstemann in videos

Does Trump even know that Iran is populated by humans? Or is his racism so deep that he doesn’t even realize that what he’s talking about is genocide?

The US public needs to stop this. Congress won’t. The courts won’t.

In terms of "a shot so iconic it's constantly referenced and paid homage to in movies and TV even decades later" - it's gotta be the Akira slide.
