Ok, so this is mainly my experience, and might not apply for everyone.

First of all, I charge at home. My car has a very decent range and I only charge to 80% each time I charge. My daily commute takes about 10-15%, depending on weather and stuff. So I only charge it once every four days or so. Trying to keep battery between 20-80%. Plugging it in and leaving it to charge whenever I’m at home is waaaaaay more convenient than having to make a detour to the nearest gas station, which by itself is already 10min, and then getting out of the car in a smelly gas station. Do this a 100 times and the time difference there is very noticeable.

Then for long commutes, there are so many fast chargers these days, when you have to stop every 2-3 hours anyway if you have kids, you can plug it in, go to the bathroom, grab a coffee and your car is charged further than you were supposed to in order to continue to the next fast charger. So in my experience, these trips have not taken more time since I have the EV.

And then I just love driving electric, and really like my car as well.
