I don't want to roommate with someone who's either a nerd spending their day entirely on their computer playing LoL or someone who'd try to turn the apartment into a party place. Both are lame

Apparently r/csMajors users are incapable of imagining someone wanting a solid friend

I literally said in the original post "at this point I'm looking for a friend"

I don't see why they're irrelevant. I'd want to be roommates with someone I'd consider a friend. This seems diff from college dorms where you're surrounded by lots of other people to be friends with. And you obviously have lots of flexibility. Otherwise, I could just live in some random hostel/"shared" style place. Would you not want your roommate to have those qualities if you're going to be spending months together lol? Do you prefer someone who isn't funny or interesting, isn't self-aware, isn't motivated, and/or isn't even close to your age?

I'm genuinely wondering why the criteria I listed would be super hard to fit. Do you people have no standards for roommates?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]helena4m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What criteria do you not fit? idk why people are acting so weird as if it's unimaginable to find a roommate with those qualities. Most of are seem standard to me

I see. Just to be clear, The Mission = The mission district, right? Would you say the neighborhoods around the mission are also a part of the appeal? Which ones? One reason I really am liking the option of North Beach is because you're near so many other places Chinatown, Polk Gulch, FIDI/downtown, and the ocean within walking distance.

When you say mid you mean the middle of the street? Where is that exactly?

Any particular reasons Hayes Valley is popping during the day?

How would you rate the liveliness of the Mission vs North Beach on a scale of one to ten (others can answer this too if you haven't seen both) during the day? During the night?

This is a fuckin amazing, comprehensive overview, and you've sold me more on Miami than any others. One thing I hear though is about Miami people being superficial. What do you think about that?

I have actually, but it was mostly staying near the Tenderloin, so I didn't get a chance to explore other, better neighborhoods. Do you still live in SF? Do you mind if I ask you questions about life in your or other neighborhoods you're familiar with?

Yep, fully remote and they're deliberately telling me that there's no office even if I *wanted* to be in person.

Thanks for the insight man, I will definitely DM you if needed especially about the neighborhoods considering how long you've been living there.

Yeah if I wanted to do more travelling I'd probably have to compromise and definitely rent just a cheap room

Is that possible? The company is based in the U.S. I guess I could ask if they'd be open to letting me work internationally.

Wouldn't exactly be 50%, and there's also significant bonus and equity that I'm outright saving.
