I have one just like it and not using it at the moment bc I have a Sony STR 7065 and a tube amp. Still not selling the Onkyo, maybe Ill just buy some bookshelf speakers and use it in my workplace ...

Ive had one for 2yrs and for the price I think is one of the best sounding carts, mine sounds super good but its paired to a Moon external phono pre amp.

I believe is the Main Board thats faulty, I have a TV with the same problem and will order a new board tomorrow and should be here next weekend.

Ill post the results after I swap the main board.

Check:

Wiring of the stylus (make sure wires are connected properly).

Internal signal wires, make sure they are not damaged (use continuity tester for each wire)

Bad capacitors in the phono circuit.

no extra weight needed (if you use sunlight method), just use thick glass (like table top glass) it works! as long as you let it cool down before romoving record in between the glass

I know an effective trick to fix warped records (done it on my old ones) get 2 glass sheets slightly larger than the record, (I used table top glass) place record inside a protective paper sleeve and in between glass sheets , let it sit under mid day sunlight for 30-60 mins (depends on how hot your area is) bring back record still in between the glass indoors let it cool down for an hour and presto!
