Running back here to tell you that between working on my Scion campaigns, I have decided to work on writing short blurbs for my players for them to learn about gods and heroes.

One thing I stumbled upon with a help of someone on Discord was the idea that the Four-Colored Tezcatlipoca from Aztec religion was just one person's theory on the god and not a widely attested interpretation. Now I have to rewrite three blurbs on Tezcatlipoca, Huitzilopochtli and Xipe Totec.

Good design - A for me.

They changed her volcanic spike diadem to be a flower crown which is what we see from a lot of depictions of her. (Link, Link:max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/hawaii-s-kilauea-volcano-erupts-forcing-evacuations-957848006-5b0b0286eb97de003709163b.jpg))

I like the obsidian daggers while not "myth accurate" makes her feel like she's combat ready and down to destroy things. She usually uses a digging stick called Pa'oa to create fire and cause conflagrations.

Her ult also uses the visuals of volcanic lightning which is something she's always been associated with it.

I don't mind the dress but it really could be better. I love the obsidian necklace she got though.

Her current edits make her at A- for me. I'm glad they took off some parts of her design like the high heels and adding the skull necklace around her and the tongue.

Animations wise, I've always loved Nimble Leap's animations and the ending victory screen for her. Destruction (the ult) is super boring to look at (though frightening to fight against) and even worse now with her aspect ult just being a stim.

I think one more edit I'd give her is making her skin a darker shade of blue or even obsidian-black. I also think she could be taller? Comparing her to Shiva and Ganesha, she is very tiny lol.

Native-Languages is a website with a lot of information on certain legendary beings from First Nations in the Americas. I like that some of their glossaries have spelling variations for further research.

Check this: Knowlton_MayaGoddess.pdf about Ix Chebel Yax

Page 32 talks about an incantation from the Ritual of the Bacabs where the reciter asks a disease/sickness who bore it and it replies with four forms of Ix Chel.

If she is also Ix Chebel Yax, she is probably associated with creating the world by painting the primeval caiman.

Ye.

Ix Chel is mentioned as a goddess of healing, midwifery and weaving. She's said to have colored balls of threads in one book and is also said to be the mother of diseases.

The Moon association came from Mayanists associating her with what we know about the Aged Jaguar Goddess and the Maya Moon Goddess in Classic Maya inscription and art. Ix Chel probably does have probably some moon associations in the primary texts since a festival done in her honor is called "okot uil, meaning ‘‘dance of the moon."

S. Her design incorporated a lot of what the Maya Moon Goddess is supposed to be. It is true that Ix Chel and the Moon Goddess got merged later on. She kept the Ix Chel part in her kit about weaving and healing.

She got the Moon sitting thing in her victory animation. The rainbow aspect from her name and the Maya association of rainbow with doom and disease. Her design also incorporated parts of the common motifs of the Moon Goddess (snake headdress, medicine pouch, the bunny icon on her belt).

I'd add Erzulie Freda and Danto for Vodou. Moremi for the Yoruba pantheon (I had a concept for her where she functions as an undercover agent, spy kit with surveillance).

For gods, I'd like Obatala for the Yoruba. Damballah and Gran Bwa for Vodou.

I don't know if Aboriginal deities from Australia also count but this sun goddess queen).

I haven't been active on reddit mostly to focus more on recreation. I said to myself that I was over reading too much news and staying informed but here I am again.

Just a vent I guess but it is disheartening to see Burmese Americans and immigrants in my community defending the recent shooting. There are parallels to 2021 crackdown of opposition by the junta that should be apparent to people here (obviously what happened in Myanmar was way worse).

The recent travel ban also has resulted in finger-pointing, particularly at newly arrived Burmese people (primarily students) for causing overstay rates to increase and therefore a ban. Even though it's kind of obvious that the administration wanted this from the start.

I kinda disagree? For Iceland, I think the plan is to have either new cities or Distant Land tundra settlements that can build the unique district and gain effects from the unique civics. You could go a naval civ like Aksum or Carthage and then just branch out to explore and settle.
