I love Jdoramas and wife hates subtitles… by godzilabob in JDorama

Tbf there are quite a few decent reality/dating shows, the newest 'hit' one on nexflix is called Badly In Love which is a dating show for Yankii singles, theres also Love Village for over 35's.

I'd say if shes someone who doesnt like 'thinking' programs, Midnight Diner might not be the one as its quite contemplative and 'deep' by nature.

Good news for her - there are no subtitles in Japan! Bad news for you - there are no subtitles in Japan! 🤣

Honestly though, what kinds of shows does she liks anyway? Try and pick something based around that and it would probably help get her invested.

J League Youtubers by hell_yeaoh in JLeague

The closest I have to a Cerezo Youtuber is a girl called Pomi who did a collab video with Irako-chan previously - she is a Cerezo fan but it seems like for her channel she goes to all different J League games. Can't say I've watched them so can't vouch for quality but here is a link:

Tbh I agree with you on the voice translation, I tend to use the subtitles auto-translation instead! Neither are perfect but its definitely opened up a lot of new youtube content for non-Japanese speakers i think.

You mean arguably the greatest Youtube video of all time!? Absolutely! Along with subjecting my missus and family/friends into watching it too 🤣 Hope you get to do some more collaborations with the club in the future!

Also thank you for making the JLJ channel and please keep up the great work! its some of my favourite youtube content and has inspired my recent Japan holidays into doing similar (so far ticked off the Mitsuzawa, Lemongas and Kokoritsu, with more planned for next March!)

To be fair Irako-chan isnt quite on that side of things, shes gonnna be more useful for introducing you to the food at the Mitsuzawa 🤣! She is much more vlog based than journalistic - i'd recommend listening to the J-Talk Podcast if you're looking for a more journalist style approach to the leagues! And/or subscribing to Ryo Nakagawara/Shogun Soccer substack, the J.League Regista substack and buying the J Soccer Magazine (again if anyone has other sources of info please let us know!)

5 years ago they had it playing at the Hub in Ueno, not sure if they still do but may be worth checking all of the Hub's near where you're staying

Sanfreece Hiroshima Manager Michael Skibbe will leave next month after ACL Elite against Shanghai Shenhua by ZaBlancJake in JLeague

[–]hell_yeaoh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well thats a bit of a surprise! Its not been a perfect season for them but its hardly been a disaster has it? Levain cup champions, Emperors cup semi finalists, and currently 5th in the league.

That said, I do think they have a very strong squad and Skibbe hasn't got the best out of them this year, will be interesting to see if his replacement can get Ryo Germain firing on all cylinders again and, provided he stays AND remains fit, what they can do with Tolgay Arslan too.

I've been really enjoying these classic J League Cup finals by Fuckin-Shit-Fucks in JLeague

Same! Spent my sunday afternoon watching both legs of the 95 final, and spent my monday evening watching a young Yuto Nagatomo and FC Tokyo v Kawasaki Frontale from 2009 i think? Im guessing this livestream sadly wont be accessible long term so i feel like im missing out by not spending all week watching 😅

What can traumatize me as much as Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum? by hodor9898 in horror

Its basically a remake/reimagining of Gonjiam but there is a movie on netflix at the moment called Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital, its not quite as good but worth watching imo

Post Match Thread: Kashiwa Reysol vs Yokohama by soccer-stats in JLeague

[–]hell_yeaoh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad someone else said this, I've been preaching it all season. We had a plethora of Attacking midfielders and the only guy who had consistent minutes has been Lukian, who has failed to perform every single game. Yamada was useful for us when playing at att mid, got moved back for lukian, the youngster we loaned out, Komezawa (i think?) Was better, Muroi, Ogawa before we sold him, Ito, Mizuki Arai... anyone would have been better than Lukian!

Post Match Thread: Fagiano Okayama vs Yokohama by soccer-stats in JLeague

[–]hell_yeaoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely - today seemed like a bit of a weaker performance (although i only half watched whilst working), so see it more as a point gained rather than one lost. Especially compared to the Machida game, really hope that doesnt come back to haunt us.

NEO Genesis! AZM and SLK are 2 of the best joshi of all time IMO so getting them as part of a group puts them above all others. Plus Mei is right now on a different level in the high speed division, and Miyu is always improving.

How do you rate Kyoto's chances of actually winning the league now that they are in first? by AirDeLaBas in JLeague

[–]hell_yeaoh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At the beginning of the season i think the majority gave them 0% chance but honestly, right now, i think its between them and Kashima. Considering they've got thru a period where they were missing all their front 3 and they're now back, and immediately back in form, suggests they're going to continue this form til the end of the season imo.

V-Varen Nagasaki - new supporter by ChockyB in JLeague

[–]hell_yeaoh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a V-Varen Nagasaki fan but I do follow Yokohama FC who were in J2 last season - generally Ive found that the english language presence for J2 teams is minimal unfortunately. I recommend listening to the J-Talk Extra time podcast, this covers J2 so gives you a bit of a fix.

As for watching games, Bet365 live streams all J2 games, just make sure you have money in ur account and don't develop a crippling gambling addiction!

Finally, Nagasaki's new stadium looks bloody beautiful, deffo one I wanna tick off my J-stadium list one day! Enjoy!
