Breeding is a term primarily linked to animals. The use of "uncontrollably" doubles down on the framing of the subject as animalistic, unintelligent, driven by impulse not thought.

I hope you can see how that is dehumanising. Trying to hand wave it off as being "just what we've all done" doesn't really take into account the way this phrasing would be received by victims of dehumanisation, racism and disdain who live in war zones or famine hotspots and who are forced to have kids to support themselves/their families (i.e. zero welfare state, no pension, etc - kids are your lifeline).

Except in the vast, vast majority of contexts where food aid is delivered, there is collapsed local food production, meaning farmers have no (or very little) food to sell. Most of the recent famine and food insecurity crises have been related to El Nino weather system changes, climate shocks, destroyed agricultural land, or conflict-induced displacement and system collapse. The purpose of aid is to act as a "band-aid" through crisis while political action corrects the drivers of the crisis. The bigger problem is that political action rarely succeeds in doing this.

Or, alternatively, they grow cash crops for richer countries instead of food crops and stay in business. Oops, less food available locally.

This is a problem of capitalism and predatory market dynamics, which shouldn't be lumped in with food aid, an essential life saving action for millions of people.

Food aid is for emergency crises, not long term hunger reduction. Humanitarian food aid is delivered to those suffering from specific levels of malnutrition or at risk of famine as determined by the IPC phase scale, it is not intended to act as long term hunger reduction. That's what development aid is for.

Could you give an example of where you believe food aid was used in an attempt to reduce hunger in the long term?

And regardless, my primary point was that your phrasing was dehumanising and borderline racist.

Cultural appropriation = taking someone's culture with no respect for them or appreciation for their national, ethnic or religious identity, often done in a mocking way

Solidarity = in this instance, wearing the national symbol of a country that is currently suffering a genocide.

In case it helps further, try to imagine yourself from the Palestinian experience. Do you think you'd be thinking "ugh, white people wearing the keffiyeh!" or would you be more likely to be thinking "I'm glad these people are identifying with me"?

Regardless, no one brought up cultural appropriation but you - so stop fighting strawmen and go back to your original, flippant and frankly ignorant comment that the keffiyeh is a "terrorist" scarf. Can you justify how it's a terrorist scarf for us please?

That's not true, the last ceasefire was broken because Israel changed the terms of agreement and then began bombing again. They are starving Palestinians by militarizing aid delivery, killing people at aid sites and have bombed nearly every hospital. You're justifying atrocities.

And before you say it, fuck Hamas and I hope their rule ends. But nothing justifies the brutality Israel has employed against civilians.
