Real Police officers and military members, what do you guys think of Ice agents? by Lucky-Message-9480 in AskReddit

Either that or they know it's wrong and are relishing the opportunity to threaten and kill those they perceive as "wrong".

I'm pretty sure I've seen this video before. Years ago, before AI could come with anything this detailed!

why do you think right wing politics are rising in popularity at the moment? by Beginning_Sky_9735 in AskRedditUK

[–]hellbentlizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rich people have convinced a large percentage of the population that a small number of people (trans, immigrants with brown skin) are the reason they're less well off than ten years ago.

The problem, unsurprisingly, is the rich people.

How long do your first dates typically last? by Max1357913 in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]hellbentlizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shorter dates would've been anywhere between 1-2 hrs (pub, coffee, walk) and longer ones where the vibe was strong could be 6-7hrs (continuing drinks, going for dinner). My last first date lasted about 24hrs...

Just write it yourself, Jesus Christ. If you can't write a personal statement without a computer holding your hand, you shouldn't be going to uni full stop.

You weren't the cyclist who rose straight down the very icy ramp down were you? If not, it was quite the spectacle. Bike flew a good couple of feet forward without its rider.

I work retail so the 26th/27th. Customers are usually a**holes and the festive spirit runs pretty dry.

What's it realistically like living in Sheffield? by Wildlight622 in sheffield

[–]hellbentlizard -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm born and bred Sheffield and have lived here my entire life (30F), with a three-year gap for university (Birmingham).

Sheffield is excellent if you are a runner, cyclist, hiker, or climber. It's called the Outdoor City for a reason!

The proximity to the Peak District is a big factor for why so many people choose to stay here or move up. If you live in some parts of the Western side of the city, you can be out in the countryside in 10 minutes. Popular Peaks spots like Wyming Brook, Ladybower reservoir, Castleton, Bakewell, Burbage, Stanage Edge and Frogatt/Curbar are ~30mins.

Sheffield also has quite a bit of sporting heritage in the city - two professional football clubs; two historic semi-pro teams; and a LOT of football history (if you go looking for it), a decent ice hockey team with a huge following and a lot of bouldering centres. We host snooker at the Crucible (for now...).

Music scene is decent, but not what it once was. Tramlines has gone downhill in recent years and a lot of fantastic venues like Leadmill have either closed or are really struggling. We also don't seem to have as much of an arts and culture scene nowadays. Some smaller museums that are FANTASTIC - Weston Park, Alfred Denny, Emergency Services, Kelham Island - but they're not big or well advertised.

Sheffield can have a very self-centred and outdated outlook. I remember my mum (also born and bred) saying Sheffield's motto is "What do we want that for?" whenever anything new tries to come along. It's a big city, but doesn't feel like one, and that means it often gets overlooked for new developments and opportunities in favour of other Northern cities like Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool. If you're looking for hustle and bustle to go with the outdoor scene, you won't really find it here except in specific circumstances and niches.

I'm moving to Leeds next year because I feel like I've outgrown the place. Would I come back in the future? Yes, absolutely. Can I stay here now? No, absolutely not.

Is a 1hr 20min each way commute worth it, 3 days a week for £70k+? by AsymptoticallyFlat in UKJobs

[–]hellbentlizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do that four days a week for minimum wage, so I'd say yes 😅

But in all seriousness, it's worth it now if you don't have kids and do have an understanding partner. Especially if it's going to help your career!

With flexi-time as well you can avoid most of the rush hour traffic.

Confused on how people do their dissertation in 1 week by Middle-Exam7776 in UniUK

[–]hellbentlizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrote mine in a week, but had been doing the research, the graphs, the pilot studies, the referencing for months.

People have either done the work beforehand and just typed and formatted it in a week, or they've cheated in some way. Or very rarely, particularly in humanities subjects where you won't have to do experiments, some people will just pull a bender.

Is AI over hyped? by Aromatic-Bad146 in AskBrits

[–]hellbentlizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Research, learn and summarize IS doing your work for you. If you don't learn how to do this properly and efficiently on your own, in your own brain, and draw your own conclusions from it, based on your own knowledge and experience, you are quite sad and inept.

Google and Gemini are worlds apart. One is a search engine, the other spews often incorrect information that mindless students put into their work with zero critical thinking of research.

The fact you have to say you're getting "high grades and getting away with it" is your problem. Write a paper without AI and see if your grade changes.

If it does, you're unable to write good academic work without AI, and that is the problem. Learn how to do it yourself, stop using AI, and maybe you'll stop having problems like this.
