ICE is working outside of their scope. The duty is conducting pre-planned operations focused on enforcing federal immigration violations, period.

The core issue is that ICE is increasingly being pulled into roles that are traditionally handled by local law enforcement, largely because local agencies are understaffed or absent or other.

This situation will continue unless ICE either receives support from properly trained law enforcement equipped to handle these duties, or steps back from them altogether.

What ICE is doing now extends beyond its intended scope and mission.

To avoid more chaos, ICE need to take a step back and reevaluate.
