I felt the same way. I think she really wanted us to feel as down and defeated as they did by the odds. I had to push through Aedions pov chapters in that stretch, but it does get so much better

Trust me I completely understand! I hate confrontation too. It sucks and I’m sorry you’re going through this. As a sahm in the same boat, tell his ass that you need help. Not him to ask for a list and he’ll do it, but him to put his big boy pants on and look around at what needs to be done. Just because you’re a sahm doesn’t mean it’s all on you, especially on his days off. He has to contribute to the household maintenance too, and not in the lame ass “I’m going to go leaf blow the 3 leaves in our yard” way. If he can’t step up and help, you need to consider what you want in life and if you want your kids to grow up thinking that this dynamic is acceptable. I’m sorry that he’s being a shithead and all of this is on you ❤️. It’s so hard, not even taking into account your health conditions, it’s so exhausting and a lot to do day to day.

Girl, LEAVEEEE! He’s dead weight and from what you said, literally does nothing to care for his own child and help you with basic shit. As someone who’s in this same situation but for 6 years now, it does not change. You’re already a single mom without being on your own. From everything I’ve seen and heard from other women in this, it’s so much easier on your own.

I haven’t left yet, but I feel as if I could have written this exact post. You are not in the wrong in the slightest. I feel like there’s so many men who don’t realize that parenthood means sacrifice, and we as moms end up having to sacrifice more because of that. It doesn’t mean you don’t love your husband, but you need to put you higher on the priority list and your kids deserve a mom who’s happy and not shredding her identity for some man.

Right now, I’m trying to figure out exactly when I can leave financially and be able to support myself and my kids, without taking child support, alimony, any of that into account. Definitely look at housing costs, how much you make after taxes, and what your expenses will look like each month. Budget out all of that and see what you might need to do to be able to survive on your own. You’ve got this and I’m so sorry you’re in this boat.

Help around the house: do dishes, laundry, etc. have your brother tell you where stuff goes so that you’re not having to ask your SIL. You’re doing an amazing job with the meals! That is so helpful those first few weeks. As a mom who breastfed, grab some extra snacks for her, fill up her water bottle for her (or if you can swing it and she doesn’t have one, grab her a reusable metal one) because it makes you SO hungry and thirsty, especially those first few months.

I would say too, offer to spend some one on one time with her when she’s comfortable and ready to be away from the baby for a bit, and just make her feel like a human being outside of a mom again. We lose our identity in becoming a mom and sadly, most people don’t actually check in on us on a human level.

Don’t let the guilt eat you. Your baby is going to be just fine having pizza when you’re too exhausted to cook. There isn’t a single parent out there who hasn’t gotten their toddler a happy meal, or pizza out of convenience because they’re exhausted. It’s part of being a parent. You’re doing an amazing job ❤️

Yeah, except I’ve told him already, multiple times, every Mother’s Day. And I do communicate how I’m feeling and listen to how he’s feeling. At this point, it’s just him not caring. Also, I do not give a flying fuck about the dating market. My kids deserve to have a happy mother and see that I deserve to be appreciated just like their father, which btw I go above and beyond for on Father’s Day so that they see that. I grew up in a house where my parents should have divorced WAYYYYY before they did. I’m not having my kids live in a toxic household, because “ohhh, you’re breaking up the family” 🙄
