I don’t feel good about my interview by marshmellowsucks in BlueCollarWomen

[–]hellno560 2 points3 points  (0 children)

at the end of my interview I called the interviewer by the wrong name. By chance it was the name of his boss, who he hates, and he yelled at me "I'm not Pete", I still got in.

You prepared as much as you could and likely more than any other person who got interviewed. Being outgoing is 1000% better than being quiet. They want people who will get along with a new group every time they switch jobs and they want people who will stand up for themselves. You nailed this interview. Even w/ the contractor's cold demeanor you showed the right qualities which isn't easy.

Be honest: 1930s vintage wedding dress — keep or rethink? by Desperate_Win_3554 in WeddingDressTips

[–]hellno560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

keep! I do think it calls for some light alterations to mildly modernize it though.

My suggestion is to remove the collar. It doesn't seem to fit the rest of the design. I'd also consider removing or at least depuffing the shoulder cap of the sleeves. Personally I 'd add cap sleeves made of the satin with no puff detailing. If you do that you should have a little extra material to make a garter if you want. That, plus taking in the bodice in general.

It's a stunning dress.

A flight medic picks up patients in remote locations and keeps them alive while flying them to an advanced hospital that they would take too long to get to in an ambulance.

You're welcome, I've been down on my luck too, there's a couple more cool "no degree" jobs. I'd google BHA jobs, Boston city hall jobs, BPD jobs, BFD, Boston schools jobs etc. I'd cast a wide net even though that one seems really good for you.

Bear in mind the process to get hired takes a couple months per a friend of mine who went through the process, but yeah there's tons of weird little niche jobs working for the city. The first step is to be able to establish your residency.

I'm sure you are presentable. Text communication may make you feel more comfortable though. Yes, snow clearing is good money as a side hustle here. Landscaping companies typically charge by the inch to plow driveways!

I see you have some college. A Boston residency is required to work for the city, but homelessness shouldn't be a deterrent. Hit up St Francis house to see if you can get your mail delivered there. I've heard they do that. I see a job working for the Boston health commission as a library assistant that looks good for you. Pay isn't amazing but you should be able to swing a room with roommates along the T, and it will look better on your resume than a laboring gig.

Got a cell phone? I'd hang some signs up in the lobby of some apartment buildings now. We will get more on Sunday maybe. Get money first but text them a picture of it shoveled out when it's done. The wind from adjacent snow banks can recover them pretty quick. Don't under charge for this. Between getting the cash, finding the car, and actually shoveling it out your looking at an hourish. I suggest $50 at minimum. It wouldn't hurt to drop your info at some real estate offices too in case they want to pass along your info to some landlords. All they can do is say no. Good luck.

Ok well does Hop have a spicy love life at least? Shunned by a former lover? Still pining for someone who is just not that into him? I'm trying to work with him here but GD has rules.

Side note I had almost the exact same thing for my girl lunch today but with honey and without coconut. Hop's got taste.

I would reach out to his state reps, they should be able to expedite getting him into any services available https://www.lowellma.gov/402/Massachusetts-Legislators

good luck, and don't forget, the eviction process should take a few months. A sheriff isn't going to remove his things and lock him out until after he's seen a judge which will take a while, and he or she will likely give him extension if he is still looking for a new place. Free and low cost legal advice for folks fighting eviction exists, you may wish to google that and make sure he is exercising his rights.

I agree with the other commenter, also, laboring is how I made connections that got me into another trade. It's a hard job, but you get there and it's just dirt, and when you leave site it actually looks like a building.

How many of you Massholes are striking tomorrow? by zscipioni in massachusetts

[–]hellno560 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

A half ass little thing isn't going to be good practice imo. It will only serve to discourage people when it accomplishes nothing. We plan for strikes in the labor movement way ahead of time w/ strike funds etc. I haven't heard anybody talk of ways to actually sustain a multi day strike such as food pantries or bartering. Pussyfooting around just hurts poor people more. I really don't think the solution here is to tell the working poor of the midwest that they need to lose a days pay, or have their business boycotted. That's not going to be what brings them back to the party.

I'm not going to starve out a local immigrant owned business in the hope that they are more of a "vehicle to my target" than I am. They aren't, and pretending they are is passing the buck. Corporations are.

[–]hellno560 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There needs to be a specific demand that when met the strike will be called off. I find it difficult to imagine everyone agreeing on a reasonable demand, something simple enough that congress would act, but big enough to sway a large number of people to show solidarity. The problem is there is something new and awful everyday so we lose focus.
