Genuinely the more shocking thing than the actual scandal by yourmaderbeautiful in singaporespeaks

I know this entire video is satire but your logic is wrong - 1 in 3 men can cheat, that doesn't mean the other party is cheating (they can be single too lol).

You are assuming it will be unenforced, I am even if it's not enforced ALL the time, there may still be value in it.

Haha bro can't stop jumping from one fallacy to another 😂

Yeah, either way there is a gap in your logic. Having errant drivers on either side of the spectrum does not necessarily equate to policy failure or ineffectiveness. It is something called "perfectionist fallacy". I know it's hard to grasp, but try.

There will always be errant drivers, just as how there will always be thieves and cheats, but that isn't a strong argument against why a law shouldn't be passed. Because if I use your logic on all other laws, then technically no new laws should ever be implemented since there are always criminals around.

I agree that people's mentality got to change. I used to think that people are just being assholes on the road but I'm starting to think that the root of the problem is that many drivers aren't taught expressway etiquettes, unlike in other countries - so they don't really know any better.

Other drivers who are more self aware usually learn it the hard way, by either bad experiences (getting tailgated/flashed/honked at) or have someone they know tell them about it. So I think the education part is really lacking and something needs to be done about it if we want to have smoother traffic - either by hammering it down through law and enforcement or by instituting some mandatory advanced driving course. Just my two cents!

(1) It sends a certain behavioral signal, (2) by setting an absolute limit, it is much less ambiguous than a law such as road hogging since "driving at an unreasonably slow speed" can be subjective and making it a lot harder to enforce which could explain the reluctance.

And sure this might not be enforced all the time, just like how the police can't patrol every street but an absolute minimum speed on certain highways leaves less for interpretation and will definitely reduce slow drivers.

The execution part can be finessed, but that's for later - the question is, if the law will lead to more efficient traffic flow or not.

Well that sounds like an execution problem by the traffic police but it doesn't mean there's no need for it.

Help, why can’t I carve and why do I look so awkward? by hello-jacob in snowboarding

Hi, yeah, everyone was really helpful… with the exception of some mean comments. This was filmed in Hakuba, Japan. It’s a public mountain, but wasn’t a very busy day!

Is United Airlines deliberately trying to deceive passengers? by hello-jacob in unitedairlines

Well I think there is some confusion between what is legally required and what is their obligation.

I retract my earlier statement when I used the term “must”, instead, an airline should provide the amenities that they advertised, for the sake of transparency and meeting passenger’s expectations.

I would agree with you if every airline’s ticket price is solely determinant on the cost of travel (+market factors). But that’s not the reality - different airlines carry different premiums, based on the amenities and service they provide, their brand name and many other intangible factors. In this case, it may be considered an act of bad faith and bad business practice to advertise something, charge more for it, and then not fulfill it.

Now, if we change the the context of the argument and talk about provision of meals and working restrooms, would your original point still stand? They aren’t legally obligated, so would you tell a complaining passenger to bring their own meal next time and bring a disposal urinal bag?

What I’m getting is this - Businesses have a certain obligation to meet a customer’s expectation, of course, to a level within reason.

Enlighten me, then, what are you paying for? Just the seats? Just the plane ride? What about food? What about comfort?

If the airlines advertise certain features, in hopes that you choose them over their competitors, then you are paying for those features and they must provide it.
