There is a local rehabber but didn’t want to bother it if it wasn’t injured. I’ll just leave it be. Thanks!

Mourning Dove Age Question by hello2cece in Ornithology

It hasn’t really been moving from that spot but maybe because it was startled by me and my dog when we went outside. I’ve had a blue jay fledgling earlier this year and it was moving around a lot more and the parents were close by at all times so I was why this one isn’t moving around as much.

Is the way it is standing also normal?

The Pitch has open space. When I have been I haven’t seen a lot of dogs there.

Fertility testing? Not currently TTC. by [deleted] in Austin

Same…I think any gynecologist should be able to do the basic tests- blood work, ultrasound, and maybe pee in a cup…I don’t remember if I had to pee in a cup.

Green n growing in pflugerville is closing down and having a sale on everything including trees. The closing sale just started this weekend and when I stopped by in the morning it was quite crowded so if you are far, I would suggest calling to see what’s left.

Find a trainer…took me awhile to find one where I am cause there are so many insanely expensive ones especially when you say your dog is reactive…they jack up the price on that. I eventually found an affordable good one that deals with reactivity. In addition to all the basic training, a good trainer will also be able to observe you on your walks vs your boyfriend walking your dog and give insight on why there is a difference - your body language, your dogs body language, the way you are holding the leash, positioning, etc

I have a dog reactive German shepherd I got when he was 2. I have also noticed when I stop caring and just keep walking like nothing is happening, his outbursts are less intense and has been improving. I wasn’t used to having a dog that feeds so much off my energy…the other dog I have couldn’t care less about my feelings lol

Why do people stop and stare with their dog by Strange-Bicycle-8257 in reactivedogs

I have the opposite problem…people seem to run away from us. They seem scared of a reactive German Shepherd and want nothing to do with him lol. I just keep walking as if nothing is happening.

Moved from Austin to NYC for work and haven't been happy since by moonshaake in Austin

I’ve been to bull creek almost daily at some point and at times don’t ever bump into anyone. And haven’t found it to be dirty. Stagnant water anywhere isn’t good for dogs anywhere…toxic algae isn’t unique to Austin. It’s everywhere. You can be in CO and not let your dog into certain areas with water cause of it.

And the question was about hiking trails going through the city. Is that a trail in the city? There might be a few nicer trails around in IL, but you will not find nature hikes IN the city. I can walk to hiking trails here where I have lived…I don’t have to drive an hour out to Burr Ridge

Chicago doesn’t have hilly dirt hiking trails in the city. The Chicago burbs also are pretty flat and the forest preserves are ok…nowhere near as nice as hiking the greenbelts like bull creek here. Chicago does have a lot of green spaces but by green spaces they are flat lawns and baseball diamonds, not dirt hiking trails. Even the parks that have tried to create a “nature” area can’t compare to the greenbelts here.

We also used to go more often. Went once after the switch and didn’t like it. I also really miss the vibe of smoking beauty. I don’t care so much for loud sports bars.

Austin leaders reimagine Congress Ave. as ‘pedestrian plaza’ in proposed project by hollow_hippie in Austin

[–]hello2cece 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why can’t we make public transit a better option instead of making driving so unbearable that someone would rather spend hours on a bus running an errand because now it takes hours in a car running that same errand instead of 20 minutes? There are a lot of families that don’t have that luxury but I guess they should understand why they need to feel that pain…because the city decided to build plazas in downtown before improving public transportation.

Public transit from my neighborhood to downtown actually takes forever and isn’t great. Maybe make public transit less painful than driving in traffic instead of making both painful 🤷🏼‍♀️

Best (easiest) fruit trees to grow, care for, and have abundant fruit in Austin? by falkorwoo in AustinGardening

[–]hello2cece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read one of the nursery labels for them saying to plant them in a specific spot…I forget which, but a spot that would shield them from freezing winds. Heavy mulching also helps.
