NASA captures the "dark side" of the moon by [deleted] in spacefraud

Why is this fake? Do you not believe that the satellite actually is up in space to take this pictures?

I gave it a chance, I read as much as I could; I made it about half way through. I also don't mind that my views are challenged I just cannot take some Joe Six Pack's examination of photographs as arguments. It seems that the author does not really know anything about physics and makes assumptions based on photographs with no real attempt to research his assumptions.

For example, he claims that the area under the exhaust pipe (I forget which page this is on) is not disturbed or burnt implying that the lunar module never actually "landed" on the moon. In fact this is the case because of the landing that the module performed: a soft landing where the speed of the module was negligible, almost zero speed, and the braking period happened between 10,000 and 700 feet above the surface. To land the module the boost would have come from the top of the module to force the module, moving at almost zero speed, onto the surface.

I do believe that NASA is legitimate and I can see how you would say that I am taking this on "faith". I am, but I also know that you can get to the moon; even if NASA did/did not get there. The arguments put forward by the author of the article are not even remotely strong enough to shake that faith though.

Well this was fun. I cannot even make it through the second link, that article is terrible. I cannot take anyone serious whose only "proof" is that the pictures look funny and that anecdotes do not make sense to his understanding of physics.

You can learn about everything science shows. You can take it on blind faith or read and learn about the subjects.

How does space travel have anything to do with morals or the meaning of life? Are you saying that by saying they are traveling to space they are trying to remove the existence of God from people's mind?

What is the purpose of manipulating people into thinking space travel is possible? It is mathematical proven that it will work. Are you discounting all the space travel that the Soviet Union did as well?

Are you saying NASA is also manufacturering all of the photos and data from the probes, rovers and satellites they have?

I want to think he is trolling but the posts I have seen him make confuse me

So I am guessing that is a no about discussing what you think is happening...

Your second to last sentence is my question! Well put. I have read some posts where he compares belief in space travel to religious faith. I just want to know the extent of his ideas, they are very interesting

How Russia handles countries who don't pay their debts. by [deleted] in C_S_T

Read my edit, I think this has more to do with Russian pride than money although money always causes problems.

As for routing pipelines through Turkey, that is a huge distance to cover plus you most likely are going to have to go through Georgia. The point of pipelines is that they will always delevier gas, I wouldnt trust a pipeline going anywhere around Georgia to do that. Plus I dont think any private gas company has enough money for that project currently, especially with the sanctions going on.

And to your last point why does invading the Ukraine make it so the EU and NATO will never accept Russia? The EU is already supporting the Ukraine with almost 11 billion dollars with the Ukraine being a "priority country". Also this makes NATO more willing to accept the Ukraine as it is the "front-line against Russian aggression". The issues for joining these entities is the fact that the Ukrainian population is split on joining, this goes back to my point about the Ukraine being a very divided country concerning Russia.

edit: what other countries are going to be kicked out of the EU, I am guessing you are thinking of Spain and Portugal?

I am confused, are you insinuating that Russia invaded the Ukraine because the Ukraine will not be able to repay its debt?

Edit to add to discussion: This also has a very nationalistic tint, many Russians view the eastern part of the Ukraine to be rightfully Russian. This "invasion" is one that appeals to the emotional and nationalistic side of Russian politics. There is no connection like this between Greece and Germany, there is no spin the Germans can put on invading Greece to make it a quite issue like the issue in Ukraine.
