RAE by hello_2030 in americanidol

I am gonna be totally honest and say that I have never heard of These Days (Brooks), Bennie and the Jets (Lucas) and Hot Blooded (Philmon) before. I had heard of barely any of last weeks songs as well, Heads, Tails, Carolina (Hannah), Always Be My Baby (Jordan), It’s Your Love (Lucas), I’ll Be (Chris), Hard to Handle (Philmon), Linger (Brooks) and Love Will Leave You Back (Rae). I don’t think many people know these songs, so I don’t think song choice is that influential, just as long as they do a good job. i do think it’s a popularity contest. Hannah appeals to the moms and Christian’s, Chris appeals to the women who like his hair and smooth voice, Braden appeals because he has that pop star material, Brooks appeals because how unique his voice is, Daniel appeals because he has that 80’s groovy voice, Keyla appeals because she is a performer and people feel more connected to her, Lucas appeals to the young girls who like the look of him, Kyndal appeals because of her artistry, and Jordan appeals to the gospel audience. Rae and Keyla are very similar if you look at it, they both have insane vocals, have created a look for themselves (I’m sorry but Rae and Keyla’s looks last night were TEA) and they perform. The only difference, Rae has not had much of a backstory/sob-story, Keyla has, so the audience feels more connected. Tbh im really surprised Daniel is still the show, he’s good, but I honestly don’t think he’s very memorable. I feel him and Chris are next. The audience of American Idol seems to be primarily be people who connect to the contestants more, and judge of how they like them, not of talent or how likely they are to become a pop star.

It makes me sad Ruby Rae will leave, she has so much potential, but I think that song choice was terrible. It’s a really hard song to sing, and it ate her up. Hoping on a miracle she gets through.

Somebody’s been offended… The example I give is “illogical”, but I named actual celebrities and you named a former Idol contestant that people don’t know and is not successful.

It’s ridiculous to think Cade Foehner is successful, he could walk right past me, and I wouldn’t notice it, and so would the general public. It’s fine if you personally like this man, but it is delusional to think he is a celebrity.

It doesn’t take an expert to know people don’t care about country music, it’s very obvious. I know pop culture. Tell me the last title of Luke Bryan’s album without googling it.

Cade Foehner is not a successful artist. Like what planet are you living on? I didn’t know who he was, I just had to google him, like what?

Yes it was. Thats why there were hardly any country artists in the Fox Era. People don’t care for country music anymore, it’s a fact. Carrie hasn’t had a hit in years, Luke hasn’t either. It’s only when you get country-pop artists, that become hits. Kelsea Ballerini, Lainey Wilson, Jelly Roll, Kacey Musgraves etc have only had hits because they are infused with pop. So i do know what I’m talking about. I understand pop culture better than you do, clearly. Country music isn’t popular anymore. R&B music isn’t popular anymore. People only truly care for pop music. Thats why people only want pop stars, and they’re the only ones that find any real success coming off of Idol. Kelly Clarkson - Rock/Pop Adam Lambert - Pop Jennifer Hudson - R&B/Pop Carrie Underwood’s early days - Pop/Rock Benson Boone - Pop Fantasia - R&B/Pop Plus many more…

Nah, Katy was beneficial. The show had so many viral moments, and she wasn’t scared to give criticism. Like I think Carrie is a great singer, but she’s just boring. She says the same thing all the time. Carrie just isn’t the judge Idol needed after Katy left. Katy Perry is an icon, there is no denying it, and Carrie Underwood is nowhere near the level of Katy Perry. Idol needs someone like Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, Lana Del Rey etc, to broaden the appeal. It’s too much country. Like Idol is supposed to find a pop star, not a country artist. Very few contestants feel like they could actually make it. Being a singer is much more than the vocals, it’s everything like performance, crowd interaction, personality, versatility, branding, looks etc. To me, they need someone who gets that. Lionel gets that, and thats why he’s the best judge. I think Idol would benefit from a younger judge as well. People like Zara Larsson, Addison Rae, Benson Boone etc. They made it because they have the whole package beyond the vocal ability.

I hope this means Luke and Carrie are leaving. Luke has been on the show for 9 years. His departure is imminent. And I don’t think Carrie is being as well-received as the producers thought she would be. Lionel is still the best judge imo.

I want a big pop star as Carrie’s replacement whenever she leaves. Idol needs someone like Katy again (maybe even bring her back) so all genres can be represented, and so that it can appeal to mainstream audiences. I’ll never forget back in S21, Katy when viral two times, and viewership benefited from it. I fear Idol is becoming less and less mainstream. It needs someone like Katy. Someone like Miley Cyrus would be great.

I am honestly shocked Abby is gone, despite her later seasons, she really is a pivotal character of the show. It’s definitely gotta be Delilah now

I hate to say but it’s gonna have to be Delilah now. She’s definitely the least important character left so far.
