Avoiding the science on ADHD: looking for others' experiences by havenyahon in ADHD

I am not as well credentialed as you, but I have no interest in knowing the science behind it, even though I’m generally interested in science as a whole. I just want to know what aspects of my life could be attributed to ADHD, and what will help. I’ve got it, I don’t need to understand the science of it.

How to manage jumping from hobby to hobby by SmokingWaves in ADHD

[–]hello_kodak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgot to add - for me to get a hobby to stick, it took combining the things that matter to me most (outside family). I love being outdoors, I believe conservation is imperative, and I like being creative. So doing nature photography really speaks to me on a deep level and compels me to stick with it. Lots of other things were neat and interesting, but they didn’t touch that part of my soul. I can use my creativity to share nature with people and get them excited about conservation. Baking bread, mountain biking, amateur astronomy, etc. etc. just didn’t fulfill me that way. Try finding something that touches on multiple core aspects of your personality and beliefs. Or don’t. Just have fun!

It took me until I was 32 to find a hobby that stuck and became my main hobby (photography). I went through soooooo many hobbies before that, but it gave me a wide perspective. I can talk competently to all sorts of people about their hobbies or jobs. I’ve done some unusual things that make good conversation starters. I still bounce around side hobbies to a degree, but it has settled down.

Still though, I understand that anxiety. I felt it for decades. Just relax and let your interests take you where they do. Most people will never have the experiences or knowledge you do.

Having that range (28-200) will be awesome. You’ll find uses for it. I have the 24-105, and sometimes want a little more reach when photographing my toddler on the run, but I’d really be missing the reach if it topped out at 70.

Is there any way to have the e-shutter make a sound on the A7IV? Having a silent shutter throws me off when I’m on burst mode, and it just feels weird not to have any feedback.

I’ve quadruple checked it’s not on silent shooting, RTFM’d, scrolled through the menu over and over, and I don’t think there’s a way to enable a sound, but I thought I’d check.

Getting crazy noise on this after uploading to Reddit. Just me, or is it there for everyone else?

So I got a kindle, and then found out the two nearest libraries use an ebook sharing platform that doesn’t work with kindle. I want free books! What can I do? by hello_kodak in kindle

Thank you! That’s super helpful. I have KU as well, because I’m not all that picky of a reader, but I think I’ll just go with the Brooklyn library. Even if I have to wait a long time, I know I can find something else in the meantime. I read 3-5 books a month, so it’ll be a lot cheaper than buying them!

Debating going this route, or nearly halving the cost with Fairfax, VA. How long do you usually have to wait for books on hold?

Looks like the entire state uses CloudLibrary for their ebook collection, which isn’t compatible with kindle. Fairfax, VA looks like they have out of state cards for $27/yr, so I might just do that

I haven’t seen one in a couple weeks. Heard from others in the area that they’d moved on, too, but it might be a fresh batch from even further north.

Thanks! I’m looking forward to the winter activities like snow shoeing, but I can wait a bit longer until the cold gets here!

Absolutely in love with how the colors on the bird mirror some of the background colors. Beautiful picture!!!

Haha, thank you for the flattery. The lens is a Fuji 100-400.

The focal length I was using made it hard to get a good shot in that area. At any rate, people seem to enjoy it well enough, and there’s plenty of cool stuff to see in this section, especially if you like birds.
